I just saw a £10.16 charge on my phone bill for a call lasting 9 minutes. Didn't recognise the number at first, but after looking it up, turns out it was Coopers of Stortford. Definitely not happy about it. When you’re making an order, you assume the call is free, not that you’ll get slapped with a bill like this. Won’t be calling there again, that’s for sure.

I’ve had dealings with Stortford cops for ages and always thought their number was free. After my last order, I started getting loads of annoying calls. Since then, I’ve decided not to buy from them anymore. These days, I just block any calls from numbers I don’t recognise.

Coopers of Stortford, who I'd always thought were trustworthy, have this number listed as their contact and order line on the back of their catalogue. Turns out, it’s causing customers to get scammed and lose cash, which is really worrying.

So, I ordered some men's socks but ended up receiving a silver sapphire ring for women instead. Had to ring them up to complain and ask for the right socks to be sent out. After waiting three weeks with no sign of them, I had to give them another call. Just found out I got charged £9.56 for an 8-minute phone call. I don't mean to be too cheeky... but cheers for not making me pay postage to send the ring back!

Well, if you enjoy being nickeled and dimed just for ordering stuff, try calling 08444824400 - that’s Coopers of Stortford. They actually charge you fees just for making an order! Honestly, what are they thinking? Definitely won’t be buying from them again, that's for sure.

Tried calling COOPERSOFSTORTFORD to sort an order as their online payment wasn’t working, but the call ended up costing me almost £6 for just 9 minutes! They charge 7p a minute plus an access fee, which I didn’t expect. Definitely won’t be ringing them again, what a rip-off.

Really disappointed with this. I was on hold for nearly 25 minutes before they told me I’d been charged £2.50 for a non-standard call. When I looked up the number 08444824400 online, it came up as a billing scam. Tesco have since blocked non-standard calls on my phone, but they won't give me the £2.50 back. Because of this, I'm planning to switch my mobile network. Doesn’t seem like Tesco value their customers at all. My wife’s with Tesco mobile too and she's thinking of moving to another provider as well.

This number has called me two times, and just today I got my Sky bill showing calls from it charging me 86p and 85p. I’m thinking maybe it’s linked to when I answered but hung up because no one spoke, which sounds like a scam tactic. After seeing your alert, I won’t be answering it anymore. Looks like it’s definitely connected to some sort of con. Cheers for the heads up!

This 08 number actually belongs to Coopers of Stortford, and their usual local number now forwards to it. When I placed my last order, I ended up paying an extra £5.64 just because of calling that 08 number. They’re already charging plenty, no need to add these extra fees which just go to them. Seriously, avoid 08 numbers - they can be super expensive!

My 88-year-old mum got stuck waiting on the line for Coopers catalogues, clueless that both Coopers and BT were adding extra costs to her phone bill. It’s disgusting how these companies prey on elderly people, pretending to help with their orders but really just draining their money. They really ought to be stopped from operating. It’s risky because the charges aren’t made clear when you call them at all. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour.

What a nightmare! They never showed up with my order. I spent 90 minutes on the phone with them, not knowing the call was costing me more than the stuff I bought. Absolutely shocking and dishonest firm with terrible customer service. Utter rubbish. Plus, I still haven't got my money back for an orange tree and a patchyra plant. Honestly, steer clear of Coopers of Stortford - they are a total waste and outright thieves.

It took me quite a while to inform the company about the suspicious call I received. However, the attendant I spoke with was impolite and uncooperative. She even hinted that I may be exhibiting racist behavior for mentioning the caller's strange accent.
Quite frankly, I expressed my concerns that their company could potentially be involved in fraudulent activities, and that any blame should not fall on me.
As a result of my calls to Coopers of Stortford, my phone bill increased by £8.57.

My mum got billed £5.98 for a 6 minute 27 second call to Coopers of Stortford. Their site says they charge 7p a minute plus a network fee, which for Vodafone is about 65p per minute, making it roughly 72p per minute - that matches up with the bill. The network fee really makes the call pricey, but honestly they oughta sort it so you don’t have to pay extra. There’s another number hidden away on their Contact Us page: 0330 3310300. The expensive number gets shoved in big bold font everywhere though, of course.

I had the same issue with this number as quite a few others. Luckily, mine was only an 88p charge, so I guess I got off easy. It just showed up on my phone bill as a “service charge,” and it took me over 40 minutes to get through to Sky to sort it out. The support agent even had to correct the last digit of the number on my bill, which was 08444824401, so PLEASE watch out for that. It’s not just dodgy, it’s downright sneaky. Needless to say, we won’t be using them ever again. To add insult to injury, the product itself was completely useless.

We called this number thinking it was a free helpline for Coopers, but only found out it was a costly number when the bill arrived. So what we thought was a good deal ended up being quite pricey after all. Bit disappointed with Coopers, but at least it was my husband who made the calls, not me. So I avoided the usual telling off this time. I marked it Dangerous because of the sneaky charges. Now we’ve created a system to check if numbers are free before we ring. Our phone provider, Sky, helped us sort it out once we realised who we’d been calling.

In early September, I decided to contact COOPERS of STORTFORD regarding an overdue item. I dialed the telephone number provided on their website. The call lasted 8 minutes. However, upon receiving my mobile phone monthly bill, I noticed that there was an ACCESS CHARGE of £6.03 and a SERVICE CHARGE of £0.60 for this BUSINESS RATE number. While I understand that it is legally acceptable for businesses to charge for incoming calls, I can't help but find it slightly unethical for Coopers, considering that most of their operations are conducted online. In the future, I will only resort to using this company as a last option.

Contact: 08444824400 I will not be engaging with Coopers of Stortford in the future. I had to wait for an enquiry online, which cost me £9 on my phone bill. What a complete rip off!

After unsuccessfully receiving any replies to my emails, I decided to dial this number using my mobile phone. Unfortunately, a mere 7 and a half minute conversation ended up costing £5.60! To add to my frustration, the call operator left me waiting while they checked something. What aggravated me further was the lack of any prior indication that I would be charged extra apart from my usual monthly call allowance. I strongly advise against calling this number at all costs. The exorbitant charges they impose are utterly disgraceful.

Got a charge from 08444824400 on my bill, but I have no clue who that is or making any calls to that number. Feels like some sort of fraud on my account.

Found out on this site it was Coopers of Stortford. They showed up on my phone bill with a £2.29 fee, didn't know who they were till I checked here. I did call them once about a broken item I got, they did send a replacement which was alright, but honestly, that call cost seems a bit steep.

Coopers!! They took £10 off me on my phone when I was just trying to check why my order hadn’t arrived yet. Proper let down by you, Coopers! Really not good!!!

I was extremely shocked to discover a charge of £2.39 on my phone bill. As an 84-year-old, I can hardly afford these additional costs. It feels like a complete scam. I've decided that I won't make any more calls in the future.

I have only encountered one company with such an unfair practice. It is likely that the majority of their customers are elderly individuals. They charged me without my knowledge, and I noticed it on my August bill after I called them on a Sunday. I will not be doing business with Coopers again. This is not the first instance where they have deceived their customers. It explains why their call centre staff tries to prolong the conversation.

Coopers is awful. I was kept waiting ages on the phone. When I finally got through to customer support, they were really rude and totally useless. I bought something from them but they said they don’t sell it anymore so they wouldn’t help me at all. Would NOT recommend dealing with them.

I picked up and as soon as I asked for their name, they just fell silent.

This number showed up on my phone bill, but it’s not in my call history at all! How on earth do they manage to do this?

Phoned Coopers to let them know my mum had passed away and asked them not to deliver the second part of the order. They had sent her two bags that she clearly wouldn’t have needed. They kept me waiting on the phone while they ‘checked’ if the order was cancelled. Terrible company, preying on older folks like that. Would strongly advise staying clear of them.

Seems like Coopers of Stortford are earning more off this phone number than actually selling stuff! It's really quite shocking.

I am an 82-year-old who struggles with computers, so I opted to make a phone call instead. However, I was disheartened to find out that this particular phone number charges 7p per minute, resulting in a significant expense. This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth, and I have decided to refrain from dealing with them in the future. It is just as disheartening as falling prey to a scam when unexpected charges are added to your purchase.

I won’t be recommending this company to anyone or using it myself anymore. Just loads of problems and wasted cash. Total scam.

I rang Coopers to place an order and ended up being charged £4.14, totally not worth it. Proper rip off, Coopers!

Why do Coopers of Stortford not appear with a name or place on my phone statement? They’ve given me a lot of hassle trying to prove their charges are legit. I’m not pleased, but I won’t leave a bad review since now I’m aware and can handle any future calls properly - if I ever choose to ring them back.

Coopers are trying to exploit my elderly dad who gets mixed up really quickly. I’m gonna send them an email soon sayin I have power of attorney and to stop bombarding him with those pricey catalogues.

Ordered something from Coopers catalogue and paid by cheque. They cashed it but I still havent received my order. When I called, they said it was out of stock and would be sent in 10 days. Def not buying from Coopers again. The phone menu was all automated but everyoption connected me to what sounded like the exact same person. Proper frustrating!

The note from 31/8/18 is actually from me. After digging a bit more, I found out that this number - which some automated search claimed was located in Vietnam (?) - is also listed as the customer service contact for the UK firm ‘Coopers of Stortford’. I double-checked with the person who answered the call and they confirmed the company did ring. She didn’t realise it was a premium rate number though. Hopefully, this helps others who come across it.
