Just got caught out by a new trick from this company, it’s pretty sneaky! They message you on Facebook or Instagram pretending to be someone you know and ask for your number. If it’s a close mate or family, it might not work, but sadly for me, it wasn’t. The fake mate said they’d joined a competition and asked me to confirm some codes sent by text. I foolishly gave them the codes... three times! After that, I started getting charged £10 for every text and worst of all, those codes gave them access to all my socials so they could pretend to be me! Before I knew it, all my friends were getting messages from “me” and the whole thing just spiralled. I’m gutted I fell for it. This just happened a couple of days ago (18/06/19), so I thought I’d warn others. The firm behind it goes by the name Oxygn8.

If you notice money missing from your phone bill, the first thing to do is contact your provider, like Vodafone, and explain the situation. Ask them to block that particular number so no more money gets taken from your account. After that, send an email to "[email protected]" explaining exactly how much was taken and include your phone number - this is important so they can verify the transaction. I had this issue just yesterday, emailed them straight away, and today they've replied. I gave them my PayPal details and now I’m waiting for a refund. A Vodafone customer service rep actually gave me that email address. P.S. Sorry for the bad English, I know it’s not perfect :D Hope this helps someone! Take care everyone!

I got put through to a lady in Australia who told me it was some kind of premium rate quiz game. She sent me a reference code via text for my issue. It might be worth phoning 08444480700 and asking them to connect you so you can get a case number sorted. You could also try emailing [email protected]. I also contacted my phone company and asked them to block any premium rate texts, as I was getting hit with a £4.50 weekly charge. Not sure if they’ll actually get back to me yet, but we’ll see.

I've been dealing with these scammers too - they seem to grab your SIM number through sneaky pop-ups that catch your number and sign you up for their services without any clicks or consent from you. For me, it was weird because I use a Mi-fi dongle with no keyboard. I didn’t even know the SIM number until I saw an unexpectedly high bill recently, so there’s no way I could’ve agreed to any chargeable subscriptions. I’ve never used or donated through these premium numbers in my life. Maybe someone should create a Facebook group and share info here so other Oxygen8 victims can connect. If it gets big enough, Oxygen8 might finally pay attention, respond to emails, take responsibility for those dodgy third parties, and start refunding people. They should be the ones accountable in the end.

My grandson, who’s 11, has been getting charged £4.50 each week on his phone by this number. I want to stop it but when I try to text "stop" to the number I was given, the message won’t go through and keeps failing. Can someone please help me sort this out?

Back in July, I started noticing charges from this company called Oxygn 8 on my phone bill. Every week, £4.50 has been getting taken from my account! I tried following their own advice and texted ‘stop’, but they didn’t even acknowledge it. Vodafone was no help at first - they blocked the number but the charges kept coming. I called them again today, but they just offered to change my number, which isn’t something I want to do at all. Then I dialled 084444 80700 and was surprised to get through to a friendly woman pretty much straight away. She agreed to cancel my subscription and promised to refund all those weekly £4.50s. She said I should get a cheque within 14 days. I’ll wait and see if that actually happens.

This firm has had a ton of complaints going back to 2011 or even earlier and yet they’re still running, basically ripping people off. Honestly, they should be shut down immediately!!!

I've just had a glance at our most recent invoice, and lo and behold, we're slapped with a charge of £124.59 linked to this number. Honestly, these folks have been utterly useless. They did offer us a paltry refund, but were quite dismissive otherwise. They supplied us with a number to try and get in touch, but it's been a wild goose chase. We've been told that any further messages will incur additional charges - lovely, isn't it? What's even more frustrating is that we're led to believe these calls can't even be blocked. It seems our only option left is to change our phone number entirely.

I've successfully managed to get them to stop all communications with us. We called the number and pressed four to connect with customer services. I was on hold for what felt like an eternity-about thirty minutes-but eventually, I got through. The call centre staff were British, which was a bit reassuring. As soon as I finally spoke to someone, I inquired about why we kept getting cut off whenever we tried to enter the number. They asked for our number, and after we provided it, they assured us that we shouldn’t receive anything from them in the future. Now, it's just a matter of waiting and seeing what happens next, I suppose.
