I rang Viking Direct because I wanted to get the tracking number and name of the courier for my order, since they never included these details in their email. It felt like they left that out deliberately, forcing me to call them. After the hassle and the expensive call cost, the customer service rep couldn’t give me the tracking info at all. Instead, she told me to ring back if my parcel didn’t arrive within two working days. I only realised how pricey the call was after checking my phone bill - this call lasted about five minutes, but I got charged over £10 plus VAT. Honestly, it feels like a rip-off. I won’t be ordering from Viking again and will block their number to avoid any future calls.

Also, the rep never informed me the customer service number was premium rate, and there’s no mention of this anywhere on their site. Viking really ought to be clearer and upfront with customers about charges like this.

I noticed this number showed up on my phone bill for 26th March 2020 at 4:51pm. It says there was a call lasting about 30 and a half minutes, and I was charged £4.70. As far as I’m aware, neither me nor anyone at home actually made that call.

Not once was I told that this call would cost me or that it was a premium line. It's really shocking and I’ll definitely find somewhere else to get my office stuff from. How is it even legal to do this?

I found two numbers on my Talktalk phone bill: 08444121111 for 39p and 08444123435 for 83p. I didn't make these calls. Turns out, Viking Direct is behind it, and the second call, which was 89p, was to fix an earlier wrong order. Nowhere during the order did they say it was a premium rate number. I’m not going to buy from them again, not just because of the fees, but because it feels like being ripped off on principle. Won’t be dealing with them any further.
