I received a call from someone sporting a thick Scottish accent, purporting to represent the Energy Advice Centre. I informed him that he ought not to be ringing me since we're registered with the Telephone Preference Service. However, that clearly fell on deaf ears. In the end, I had to firmly insist that he refrain from calling me in future before I abruptly ended the conversation. We’ll see if that does the trick!

This number has been calling me nonstop for ages, along with loads of others. I’m signed up with the TPS but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. Tried NCR as well, just felt like throwing money down the drain. The best thing I did was get BT’s call blocking over Christmas, that really sorted it. Definitely the best option if you want peace.

This number just rang me up and the caller addressed me as Mrs Cruft. I told them I had no idea who that was and mentioned that I'm already registered with the telephone preference service. They mumbled something and hung up straight away. Honestly, it's rare that saying we're on the TPS actually stops these cold calls, but today it worked! These kinds of calls are so annoying, especially when your number isn’t even listed anywhere.

Today, 21/1/14, I got a ring from a woman who actually knew my name. The number she called me on isn’t on any public list. Honestly, if more people reported these calls to the information commissioner, maybe they'd put an end to it eventually.

So this evening I picked up a call from this number, but instead of anything clear, I just caught someone swearing loudly. It sounded like they were chatting with someone else on their end. Before I could even figure out what they wanted, the call was ended. Strange!

Been getting loads of annoying calls from 08443760105 for ages now, probably about four or more times daily! I recently activated the ‘choose to decline’ feature with my provider, Plusnet, and added this number to the block list. Hoping it actually does the trick! When someone rings from that number, they get a voicemail saying the call is rejected. Not sure if it’ll stop all calls though, especially the ones coming from abroad. Hi, I’m Danny, a self-employed energy assessor working out of Glasgow. Lately, I’ve had loads of calls from people saying they’re getting nuisance calls pretending to be from an energy advice service. I run my own business doing energy assessments and have never cold-called anyone. This whole situation has really caused me some problems and I’ve reported it to Ofcom. I’m even thinking about changing my business name in the new year because I can’t seem to stop this from happening. Big thanks to the lady from Chester who pointed me to this website, and to the man who kept calling even after I explained what’s going on - I hope you understand now. Can anyone tell me if there's a way to block a certain number? For months now, I've been getting about four calls daily from the same one. I've got caller ID, so I just ignore them, but it’s crazy how they keep doing this without any consequences. What can I do about it?

Today I got called twice from this number, something about energy stuff. I couldn’t quite tell where they were ringing from, but last time I tracked down their location, I got in touch with the local trading standards and that seemed to put an end to it. Fingers crossed it works again this time.

This number has been ringing me non stop - 18 times in August and 17 in September, sometimes even 5 times a single day! But to reply to Anonymous from a couple months back, there’s a clever way to stop your phone from ringing, though the calls will still show up in your call log. I’ve got a BT 6500 phone, which lets me block those calls outright and it really helps keep the peace. I’m with you that something needs to be done to stop these nuisances invading our homes, but since TPS, BT and the Government don’t seem bothered enough to act, we’ve just got to find our own ways to keep sane.

You can also fill out the form they've got on their site and they'll reply to you as soon as they can. Just a heads up, they're really good about keeping your info safe and won't share it with anyone else no matter what. I just called that mobile number myself and told the person to stop ringing me, or else I'll just keep ringing back!
