Got a call from 08443572372, and I’m telling you, it’s definitely a con. The person said it was Barclays, saying I’d spent £3200 at Tesco using a debit card. The problem is, I don’t even have a debit card with Barclays or any connected bank. So yeah, very dodgy call!

Got a text from +4407954146159 claiming my Barclays card was charged £3200 at TescoUK. They said if it was me, text back Y, otherwise ring 08443572372. Absolutely no way I'll reply or phone them. If you're unsure about these things, always check with your bank directly, never use the phone numbers given in messages or emails!

Got a message earlier today saying to ring 0844 357 2372 because £2800 was taken from Tesco UK, supposedly from Barclays. I checked with Barclays themselves, and when they phoned that number, nothing was answered - very dodgy. My advice: don’t call back and just delete the text. I reckon if anyone gets charged for ringing these numbers, the phone companies should refund it since they’re basically helping the scammers, like an accomplice in a heist! Maybe some kind of campaign could push for that to become law? Just a thought!

I got a message like this too, and it’s clearly a scam since I don’t even have an account with Barclays. Why is nothing done about these dodgy texts? They come from what looks like a legit mobile number, so surely they can be tracked down. Maybe OFCOM or whatever watchdogs just don’t care enough. If these scammers aren’t caught, they’ll just switch numbers and keep at it. It’s really scary, especially for folks who actually bank with the company mentioned in the message.

Barclays phone numbers always begin with 0800, which gave it away straight away. Plus, I don't even have an account with Barclays so it was obviously a scam!

It's definitely a scam, they're trying to trick you into giving your info. Best thing is to not respond or message them at all. Real banks or credit card firms will ring you if they think something's wrong, but they'll always tell you to get in touch with their fraud department yourself.

I tried ringing the number but it just played an automated voice. It said they can’t take the call right now and asked to leave a name and contact to get a callback. Sounds like those same dodgy folks again, really annoying!

The message didn’t come from a Halifax number I recognised and the format looked off for a bank message. To be safe, I rang Halifax using the number on the back of my card.
