Lowri Beck rang me ridiculously early at 8.19am on 14/8/2019 using the number 0844 245 1260, regarding fitting a SMETS2 meter. I had already turned them down a few times over the past 18 months for a non-transferable SMETS1 meter. The people calling had no clue if the smart meter would actually work down in the landlord’s basement store, where there’s hardly any mobile signal and only on one network, or if it’d connect properly with the customer display unit in my flat upstairs. They couldn’t say if I’d even be able to check the meter readings online.

Got a call from 08442451260 claiming to be EDF energy after sending cards asking for meter readings for a couple of days. I’ve never dealt with this number before and I'm not giving them any info or letting them in. I’ll just stick to emailing EDF my readings like I usually do.

Got a missed call from this number around 7:43pm on Friday, 26th July 2019 on my mobile. I’ve blocked it now. Weird thing is, even though I missed the call, it showed as received in my call log. They left a voicemail but I choose to ignore it after reading the reviews. Why on earth would my energy company give my number to some contractor without telling me first, especially after I’ve told them loads of times I don’t want a smart meter?

Got a missed call earlier, so I usually look up the number to see who it was. After seeing the comments here, I'm pretty sure it was npower. An engineer actually came round this morning like they said they would, to check our gas meter was safe. So yeah, the call was legit!

It's Lowri Beck - they ring me up about five times every week, always leaving voicemails asking if I want to get a smart meter fitted. Even though I’ve told them my place is rented and I’m not involved with it, they keep bothering me, calling at all sorts of hours. A woman called me, introducing herself as being from POWERSHOP, and asked for a meter reading, which I provided without any fuss. Following that, she inquired about the exact position of the meter itself.

Woman claiming to be from POWERSHOP rang asking for our meter reading and address. We already gave our reading a couple of weeks ago so I was suspicious straight away. She then went on about where the meter is and said their worker would pop by in the next few days to check it, just turning up without booking in. I told her that might be her call but we’ve got three big dogs that wander about freely, so might be a bad idea. Blocked the number after that.

So, it’s Lowrie Beck, calling like they expect us to be thrilled to dash about like mad to give them a meter reading at 7.45 in the evening! Including rushing down a twisty staircase just to check the gas meter outside! I’ve already been told by email that my meter readings are needed on the 7th of July, and they’ll get them before then. But getting calls like this is really invasive; I’ve lost about half an hour trying to figure out who it was and to respond to the call.

Called at 10:44, couldn’t quite work out who it was. She kept messing up my surname, which instantly made me suspicious. Got a missed call from this number earlier. Just a heads up, if you ring it back from a BT landline it’ll set you back 22p a minute (that’s the provider charge plus another 7p per minute). Other landline providers might charge different rates and calling from a mobile could end up costing even more.

I use a call screening tool from TalkTalk. When someone rings, a recorded message asks them to say their name before I pick up or block the call. Most spammy callers just hang up and never try again. This morning, this number came through and the daft caller didn’t say their name properly, they just started with “hi, it’s...” so the message didn’t catch who they were 😂😂😂. Honestly, they had it coming!

Honestly, it just annoyed me - I always send my readings straight to my actual supplier, not some dodgy premium rate automated call. Got a call from Lowery Beck earlier, didn’t pick up tho. They left a voicemail saying "We’ve been trying to reach you about setting up a smart meter, pls ring us back to arrange it." Not sure if they’re still fitting the first gen meters, but I already told Scottish Power I don’t want one. Got a legit call from Lowri Beck about putting in a smart meter for Scottish Power - heads up tho - don’t be like me and ring back to check who it was, ended up paying 46p for like a 1 second call! Better just hang on till they ring you again!

I received a missed call earlier and later discovered it was from Lowri Beck, the smart meter installers. I decided to return the call since they needed to reschedule an appointment. Unfortunately, my call was transferred, and I ended up waiting for ages on hold. To make matters worse, they charged me £1.25 just for the pleasure of listening to their dreadful hold tunes! After some time with no response, I eventually gave up and hung up. I can’t tell if this is some sort of dodgy scheme, but it's definitely poor form to utilise a premium 0844 number for what ought to be a straightforward customer service matter.

I actually worked there before, so I can say for certain this is Lowri Beck Ltd. It’s probably about a meter reading or maybe getting a smart meter fitted. If you’re not sure, best to check with your energy company. They only just called me about taking a meter reading.

SCAM ALERT. Got two calls from this number today to a phone on the TPS list - we never pick up dodgy cold calls. No voicemail either time. If this was a proper, legit firm, they wouldn’t be ringing like this. It’s clear they’re just after anyone gullible enough to ring back and line their pockets. If it was really about installing a Smart meter (which I reckon is a con anyway), they’d use an 0800 freephone number for callbacks. I’ve already blocked this number on our landline.

They called and asked for us by name, I could hear everything perfectly. The lady on the phone said, "This is a bad connection, I'll ring you back later." I told her I could hear her just fine, then she just hung up. I'd advise against calling this number again, seems like they're trying to scam people for cash on purpose.

This woman claimed to represent Scottish Power and wanted to talk about some email or letter concerning a Smart Meter. I told her I hadn’t got any such message and didn’t want to chat. She then just said ‘Alright’ and ended the call. Seems like it might have been a scam, but I can't figure out what exactly they were after.

Got a call from someone who claimed to be from NPower asking for a meter reading. When they requested my postcode and the first line of my address, I got a bit suspicious and asked more questions. They then confirmed everything by giving me the exact serial number on my electric meter, which was spot on.

Thing is, I've already told Scottish Power I don't want one, and they confirmed they weren't behind the call. Seems dodgy to me, probably a scam trying to make you ring back and charge you a fortune. What a bunch of fibbers! Got a couple of calls from them but no voicemail left. When I rang back, they claimed it was about a meter reading. Total nonsense, as my energy company always emails me whenever they need a reading and I just update it online within a day or two. I gave my reading last week and had the bill ready shortly after. So there’s no reason for anyone to be ringing me for that. Seems like they’re only after some info and want you to ring them up.

Loads of energy companies use Lowri Beck for stuff like call centres, collecting data, and meter readings. So no need to stress about it.
