Something similar happened to me back in February. I reckon it was an automated call that I missed. Then somehow, my phone ended up ringing back that number while it was in my pocket and I got charged £11 for a 26-minute call. I contacted O2 and apparently, there's no way to block outgoing calls to those ‘0843’ numbers. Like others have said, they’ll probably just switch to a different number once more.

i usually ignore 0843 numbers and never ring them back but somehow ive ended up with an £85 charge on my ee bill for more than two hours spent on the phone to this number on feb 9th. i’m really confused about what happened and worried it might happen again. im currently checking my bill every day and ee say they are looking into it but honestly, i dont hold out much hope from them.

i usually ignore any call from an 0843 number. i always look them up online and save them in my list thats getting bigger by the day. this number called me for the first time today but from what ive seen in the comments above, seems like these calls come in waves. im guessing next month they’ll switch to a new 0843 number just to confuse us even more :-(

I got a cheeky call from this number earlier today. The voicemail was bizarre - it just uttered “refund today” and “to opt out” before it abruptly cut off. Perhaps I hung up on it? It’s all rather frustrating. These irritating numbers ending with 0479, 0489, 0843 980 1205, 0843 721 0891, along with a few others like 5703 and 3049, seem to think it’s acceptable to bombard me with calls. Just got a call from someone saying I can get a refund for a flight that was delayed. Thing is, I haven’t even had a delayed flight recently.
