This whole thing was really odd. I received two calls from what seemed to be the same number, but the first came through as +63 7833 383496, which looks like it’s from the Philippines, and the very next call came from 07833 383496. Yet, when I checked the actual caller ID for both calls, it showed 0843 8771322. I didn’t pick up either time, just blocked the numbers and marked them as scam calls. It’s crazy how they can mask the real number behind different ones like that, I never realised that was even possible.

They just gave me one quick ring and hung up. Looks like they want you to ring them back, but it’s a rip-off cause your call will be expensive. Definitely a dodgy scam, best to steer clear.

Why do we have to put up with this rubbish from all these numbers?? My new hubby actually signed us up with TPS over 12 years ago, but these morons still keep calling. They always say “You’ve registered with TPS” or something like that, but then why are they ringing us? They never have an answer, just carry on with their sales pitch anyway. The big giveaway is when they say “My name is Diana, Charles, Susan” - as if we’re that daft! The worst ones are those supposed Microsoft computer problems. I just tell them “I don’t have a computer, I use the one down at the library.” Or I hand the phone to my hubby and ask him to chat sensibly about computers. “Yes, it’s in front of me, how do I switch it on? What now? What’s telephone banking?” And then they hang up quick sharp! It’s a pain and takes loads of patience, but honestly, it’s the only way.

This number rang me and, without realising, I quickly hit call back on my phone. I tried to end the call straight away. A few days later, when I looked at my phone bill, I noticed I’d been charged £1.36 for just 11 seconds! That’s like paying over £7 a minute! I’m definitely going to report this to Ofcom or the proper authorities. AJ
