Got a call on my home phone on the 29th of December. I have no idea how they got hold of it as I've never given out my number or used it on any forms. Feels like they must have got it in a dodgy way!

This number rang me on the 29th on my mobile. I usually ignore calls from unfamiliar numbers and let them ring out. After about six rings, the caller cuts off. I then assign them a unique ringtone so I won’t answer if they call again. The six ring rule works on both mobiles and landlines for me. I only pick up after six rings just to be sure it’s a genuine call. We fill out legit forms, but then companies pass our info along, sometimes ending up with places like Facebook. It just keeps getting shared down the line.

I've had calls from this number before and followed the instructions, pressing 9 to be taken off their list, but the calls just didn't stop. So this time, I tried pressing 5 to talk to someone directly. They asked for my name, which I didn't want to give, and when I told the person I wanted my number removed, she just laughed and hung up on me! I called back straight away and got some spiel about pension shortfalls, then the option to press 5 to speak to an "expert". I did, but it just went to voicemail asking me to leave a message. I left a note asking a manager to get back to me about how I was treated - though I doubt I’ll hear anything. Honestly, these automated calls need to be banned already.

Got a call about some urgent PPI thing, told to hold and press a button to get through. After a while, a woman with a thick Irish accent answered and got really rude, actually blaming me for being impolite! When I asked for her name, employer, and where she worked, she just hung up.
