Today I've had the rather annoying experience of missing four calls. One of them was from 08437244156, while the other three came from 02075365372. I can't quite fathom how these numbers got hold of my contact details, as I've never been bombarded by spam calls before. If they ring me again, I'll be ignoring it completely, and if the calls continue, I'll be looking into making a formal complaint. Received a call on my landline on the 29th of December. Quite baffling, really, as there's absolutely no way they should have had access to my number; we hardly ever share it for forms or anything. It leads me to suspect they must have got it through some dubious means!

I received a call from this number on the 29th on my mobile. Whenever an unknown number pops up on my caller ID, I tend to let it ring out. After about six rings, the automated dialling usually disconnects. Following that, I assign a distinctive ringtone to the number so I can easily avoid it in the future. This six-ring rule also applies to landlines. I only pick up after the sixth ring, as that’s when I figure it’s likely a genuine caller. It’s quite frustrating how we fill out these forms, only for companies to peddle our details off to others, like Facebook, for example. This selling process seems to cascade down from one entity to another.

I’ve experienced these types of calls before. On previous occasions, I pressed 9 as instructed to supposedly have my details taken off their list, yet the calls persist. This time, I opted to press 5 to speak with a human. The representative asked for my name, which I wouldn’t give, and then I requested that my number be removed from their database. She just laughed and abruptly disconnected the call! When I tried reconnecting, I was met with some long-winded message about pension deficits, with an option to press 5 to chat with a so-called "expert". I pressed 5, only to be greeted by a recorded message urging me to leave a message. So, I did, asking for a manager to call back and clarify the earlier disrespectful treatment. I highly doubt I’ll receive a response. It’s high time these automated nuisance calls were eradicated!

I received a call purporting to be about an urgent PPI claim. They asked me to hold and press a button to get through. Eventually, I was connected to a lady with an Irish accent who became quite irate and accused me of being impolite! As soon as I asked for her name, the name of her employer, and where she worked, she hung up on me. In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have mentioned that the number she rang was on the Telephone Preference Service list. Interestingly, when I dialled the number directly instead of going through their automated system, the recorded message stated they represented an entirely different business. Seems rather dodgy to me; clearly, the caller was some sort of automated system directing me to a call centre.
