On Sunday 5th October I got three calls from this number on my pay-as-you-go phone, which I only give out to a handful of people I actually know. So whenever anyone unfamiliar rings, I’m pretty sure it’s just junk. I often get strange calls every now and then, usually around once a week, from numbers starting with 0843 724 or 0843 654, but the last digits are always different. I did pick up once just to see what it was about. At first, there was silence, then some sort of recorded message started, and that’s when I quickly ended the call.

If you catch these calls on your mobile, you can usually add the number to your phone’s block list (at least on Android, not sure how it works on iPhones).
