Got a weird message from this number saying it’s from First Direct but it’s not clear which bit of First Direct - they’ve got insurance, banking and loads of other services. It’s definitely a SCAM! Someone rang me saying they were from Nationwide’s fraud team, saying there was odd activity on my account. I asked them to cancel my card straight away, but then they wanted me to give them certain account info, which made me quite wary. So, I ended the call and then rang Nationwide myself, who confirmed everything was fine and there was no unusual activity on my account.

Pretty clear it's a scam, but whatever you do, don’t return their call. Even if you don’t share any info, they might just be checking if your number is real so they can hit you up with more dodgy calls later. Sometimes it’s even a trick to get you to ring a premium rate line, making money for the scammers. Honestly, just block, delete, and ignore it. Their system will then think your number isn’t live anymore.
