After I returned a call to a mobile number, I received this one claiming to be from TPS. It struck me as rather dubious. When I asked for a contact number so I could reach them back, they insisted on charging £39.50 to prevent nuisance calls. Seems a bit fishy to me!

I suspect this is a bit of a con, to be honest. I inadvertently registered on a site that claimed to eliminate those pesky nuisance calls. Shortly thereafter, I received a call from some chaps promising they could put an end to every unwelcome call from anywhere on the globe, but there was a catch-they wanted £35 for the service. Naturally, I firmly declined their offer. Now, I've likely set myself up to be bombarded by even more nuisance calls and dodgy sales pitches. I might have to consider changing my phone number altogether!
