I noticed a charge of £7.99 on my Sapphire credit card from this number! They didn't have my information, so I'm quite puzzled.

I recently received a phone call from someone purporting to be from a company called Sapphire, based in Cardiff. The chap said I had completed a survey, which I have indeed been doing lately, and claimed that as a result, I was fortunate enough to win a complimentary £20 fuel voucher. However, he continued to mention that I would just need to pay £1 for postage. Strangely, he already had my name and address on hand. In a moment of weakness, I stupidly provided him with my bank details, including my full card number and expiry date. I did voice my concerns during the call regarding why he needed such information, but he reassured me that everything was legitimate. To convince me further, he gave me his personal email and phone number, [email protected]. After the call, I took the time to look into Sapphire and, to my dismay, realised I've fallen prey to a scam. It was a silly mistake on my part, and now I've had no choice but to close my bank account. I urge everyone to be cautious and not to fall for this! The caller was from Sapphire.

I reached out to my bank to let them know what had transpired, and they were incredibly supportive, promptly blocking any attempts to siphon funds from me by those fraudsters. BE WARY AND DON’T FALL PREY!

I received a call shortly after filling out an online survey for Asda from someone who identified himself as Paul. He was touting free vouchers as a reward for completing the lifestyle survey. I had a hunch there was a twist, and lo and behold, there was! To claim the vouchers, I’d need to furnish my card details to cover a £1 postage fee! I certainly wasn’t about to fall for that old trick. I firmly explained that our chat would be wrapping up, as I resolutely don’t share my financial information. He went on about not needing the last three digits on the back of my card, but I reiterated that I never disclose my details under any circumstances and preferred to forgo the vouchers rather than continue this conversation. How amusing that I had explicitly ticked the box indicating I didn’t wish to be contacted!

It seems a magazine firm is attempting to solicit credit card details.
