I've received multiple calls from this number recently. Today, I finally gave in and answered. It was a pre-recorded message claiming to offer assistance or a grant for boiler replacement. Right at the end, they mentioned I could speak to a representative by hitting 5, or opt out by pressing 9. Naturally, I chose 9.

I've had two calls today already, both with the same pre-recorded spiel, just from a different number each time. This seems to be some sort of nasty money-making scheme tied to a premium rate line. If you answer and find silence or the call suddenly drops, be sure to lodge a complaint at stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk. On the flip side, if you’re on the receiving end of an unwelcome robocall or someone on the line, gather as much detail as possible and report it at ico.org.uk. It’s high time we put an end to these bothersome calls!

I decided to return the missed call, but when I did, all I got was a robotic voice that didn’t reveal the caller’s identity. After hearing, “You have been contacted today by a business that…” I thought better of it, hung up and promptly added the number to my block list.

It appears that this number belongs to a telemarketer, as the call was automated. I would highly advise against returning the call; they tend to impose exorbitant charges per minute!
