Wouldn't it be a bit more straightforward if, for those receiving a barrage of these calls, there was an option to add a package specifically for 08 numbers? That way, the charges would come out of your allowance rather than your bank account. For instance, Voda takes £2.50 a month from me, and as long as I have enough minutes, all my 08 calls are included. It seems like a sensible solution!

I’ve spotted a charge on my February bill amounting to £34.99, with an added 20% VAT, for a so-called two-hour conversation to this particular number. It's worth noting that I hardly ever use my mobile for contacting 08 numbers, so I'm baffled as to how this call came about. Could there be a scam at play here? I'm questioning whether they can somehow reverse charges as is often seen with landline calls. It’s quite troubling; if they manage to ring you and it goes unanswered, but don't cut off the call on their end, it could result in charges racking up without you even realising! I've reached out to 3 for clarification, but their assistance has been lacklustre at best. It’s got to the point where I've had to submit a formal written complaint, as ringing them only gets you through to a call centre overseas that can do little more than fob you off to their Billing team, who seem to be completely uninterested in resolving the issue and just insist that the charges are payable!

I’ve just noticed that T-Mobile has taken a hefty sum of £315.41 from my bank account, claiming that we made multiple calls to this number on the 9th of February at 8.35am, 10.49am, and again at 12.49pm. Honestly, the customer service was rather unhelpful until I stumbled upon this website and reported it back to them for further action. They’ve mentioned they’ll conduct an investigation and get back to me! The last two instances they referred to happened while we were at the hospital. It’s absolutely ludicrous to think anyone would remain on a mobile line to an 08 number for that length of time. My husband is getting increasingly stressed over this ordeal. It’s about time something was done to put a stop to this nonsense. How on earth do these companies get away with such practices?
