Wouldn't it be easier if you deal with loads of these calls to just add an extra package for 08 numbers? Then it just uses your minutes instead of taking money straight from your bank. My provider, Voda, charges me about £2.50 a month, and after that, I can call any 08 number without extra cost as long as I’ve got enough minutes left.

Easy peasy! Just head over to eBay and look up "Professional Call Blocker" - you can grab one for less than £30 with delivery included. It stops annoying calls too, even when the number isn’t shown.

On my February phone bill, there’s a charge of £34.99 plus 20% VAT for a call that apparently lasted two hours to this number. I’m certain I never dialled any 08 numbers from my mobile, so this call isn’t mine. I’m starting to think it might be some sort of scam where they can reverse the charges, similar to how it can happen with landlines. Maybe they call you, and even if you pick up and then hang up because no one’s there, they keep the call running at their end racking up the cost! I’ve contacted Three to sort it out, but they’ve been pretty useless. Eventually, I had to send a formal complaint in writing since calling them just connects you to an Indian call centre who then pass the complaint to the billing team. Those lot just say you have to pay and don’t really do anything.

T-Mobile has taken £315.41 from my bank without my permission, claiming they phoned this number on the 9th of February at 8.35am, 10.49am and 12.49pm. I've got to say, their customer support was pretty useless until I found this website and got back to them. Now they're saying they'll look into it and contact me again. But the thing is, during those supposed calls, we were at the hospital. No one in their right mind would spend two hours stuck on a mobile phone to an 08 number! My husband’s stress over this is making his health worse. Something has got to be done to stop this nonsense ASAP. How do these companies get away with it? There must be some kind of regulator for this, right? They have one for everything else.

So, I just noticed a charge of £241.70 on my bill! When I asked my phone provider about it, they said I’d made a lengthy call to that number on February 10th. The thing is, I’m certain I never dialled it, but it still appears in my call log. Really puzzled and annoyed here.

Here’s a word from Harrington Brooks themselves. They want to make clear that this phone number isn’t linked to Harrington Brooks in any way. They’re definitely not involved in PPI claims, and they never use 0843 numbers for contact. Just like everyone else mentioned, this number has rung me loads over the past week - I’m talking at least five calls with that same irritating robotic message.
