I heard their voicemail, sounded like it was all about PPI claims. I've picked up this number a couple of times but never actually got to talk to a real person. I pressed the button they said to connect with someone ‘cause I wanted to ask them to quit calling me, but all I got was a beep and no reply. It’s getting really frustrating now. I’m thinking about looking into a privacy blocking service, but I’m hesitant to hand over my number to them. Is it safe to do that?

I don't take any banking calls on the phone anymore. If it's really urgent, the bank will send a letter, so you have something in writing. Scam calls are still going to happen, but you can always just block the numbers.

Got a call from this number around 1:15 today. I usually ignore calls from numbers I don’t recognise. I think they might have rung before but I’m not totally certain. They claimed to be from HSBC, which is weird coz I don’t even have an account there. No message was left, so I’m definitely not planning to return the call.

Hey everyone, I received a call like this earlier, supposedly an "automatic reminder" from HSBC. It's pretty odd since I've never had an account there or anything related. My other half got the exact same call around 9 this morning, and she’s in the same boat - no HSBC accounts at all. Feels like they're fishing for your info, maybe to steal your details or even replicate your credit card or something dodgy like that. Just a heads up to stay alert. I’ve reported it to the police to make sure they’re aware of this scam. Take care out there!

So, I got a call on my new Blackberry - yeah, I know, such a throwback - and thought it looked like a scam, tried to block the number but messed up and ended up calling them back by mistake since I'm not really used to the phone yet. Like I mentioned before, if it's anything legit or important, they can just send a message or ring me again.
