I experienced something similar regarding the warranty for my Samsung television, but funnily enough, my telly isn’t even a Samsung! When I rang them again, the representative greeted me by name straight away, which gave me a bit of a fright. I recently came across this firm that offers extended warranties for home appliances: http://www.homeapplianceguard.co.uk. I’ve lodged a complaint with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) because they seem to be employing overseas representatives to conduct surveys. They then utilise that data to peddle their products - I found this out directly from one of their agents who openly admitted it, which matched up with some of the misleading information I supplied to their survey team! It’s quite apparent this is a calculated move to dodge UK legislation on telemarketing regulations. I have requested the TPS to investigate this matter further, and I’m keen to see what action they might take.

Honestly, the smartest move in such situations is to mention you’ll fetch them and then just hang up for a bit.
