Received an automated call the other day, attempting to sell me on recovering some cash apparently lost through PPI mis-selling. Such a nuisance! They didn’t even bother to mention the company’s name. Just left me feeling quite vexed, to be honest.

I’m situated in the UK, and I received a call on my mobile at 18:20, followed swiftly by another on our landline at 18:26. We don’t have any ties to these folks and haven’t the foggiest idea who they could be. It’s become painfully clear that someone must have peddled our details to them, presumably from a database of sorts? I didn’t bother to pick up either call.

I returned the call from this number, only to be greeted by a message stating it belonged to a sales company. It mentioned that I could expect more calls in the future, but also offered handy information on how to eliminate such pesky sales calls. After listening to it all, I found out that if I pressed '1' at the end, they'd take my details out of their records. Quite knowledgeable of them, I'd say!
