I just got my Talktalk bill and noticed a huge charge from this number. I’m pretty sure I never dialled it, so it must be some kind of scam.

Had to wait ages and all I got was a "trying to connect you" message in the end.

I was dialing a different number when an automated voice popped up saying this number was the new one. It kept trying to connect me for quite some time, but eventually I just gave up.

I tried calling Motability using the number from their letter but got a recorded message saying the number was no longer in use. So, I rang the new number they gave, but after being kept on hold for ages, I gave up. Later, I called Motability again using a different number and got through without any issues. When I looked up that new number here, I realised it was linked to a scam.

I got a text from this number, it popped up on my phone but I couldn't find much info about it. The few comments I found just link the number to random entries, which kinda pushes me to reach out to strangers to see what messages I might get that I wasn’t waiting for.

Today my wife’s sister gave us a ring, saying she’d been trying to call us but got a message saying our number switched to that 0843 one mentioned here. So I grabbed my mobile and dialled our usual number, which went through fine. When I checked it on this site, turns out it’s flagged as a scam. Fingers crossed my sister-in-law didn’t actually call that dodgy number, or she might end up with a big phone bill. Seems like some fraudster has brought back this scam from last year or so.

My brother in law, who is seriously unwell, tried to call The Royal Sussex Hospital in Brighton where he goes for treatment every day. He was told their contact number 01273 656955 had been switched to some scam line. Sadly, he ended up ringing the scam number and was left waiting on hold for a while before he gave up. It’s really nasty for anyone to mess with the main hospital phone numbers like that.

I was trying to make a call and it kept getting dropped - happened three times in total. On the last try, I was told to call a different number, which I had just given them! They said the number had changed, but I was already speaking to the same person on the line, so that can’t be true. Got a call from a Leicester area code, I tried ringing back but it kept saying the number’s now switched to someone else’s, or at least the one up there. Luckily, I’ve got a limit on my phone so I couldn’t actually ring it back. No clue who was calling me though.

Got a call from a Leicester number and after I answered, they said their number had changed. When I tried calling back, I ended up paying a fortune because it was a premium rate line and you’re stuck listening on hold. Total rip off! Be careful with these calls.

I got a missed call from 0116 356 6892 and when I called back, it just sent me straight to voicemail where a message said the number had been changed and gave a different one. I haven’t bothered going any further than that.

My missus got a few calls from a Leicester area code, 01163566377. When I rang back, the call just cut off straight away. I then tried again using Skype and got an automated voice telling me the number had switched to 08431559696. Feels like one of those dodgy scam calls to me.

Just got a ring from 0116 356 3553, so I tried calling back but it told me the number’s switched to 0843 155 9696. When I dialled that, all I got was a message saying "all lines are busy". Then I came across this info :(.

Received a call from 0116 356 5992, looks like it’s somewhere in Leicester. When I rang back, it switched me over to 0843 155 9696 but didn’t say who it was. The automated message kept saying “the line is busy, connecting you to an operator" and I was stuck on hold for over 3 minutes. Just a heads up, calling that number costs money, so watch out - could easily be a scam!

I stupidly rang back a number and realised pretty quickly it was dodgy. I stayed on the line for just over a second, like 1.09 or something, and got charged 73p. Not a huge loss, but definitely feels like a scam to me. Better to avoid it altogether.
