Got a call from someone claiming to be Vodafone, saying my contract was up for renewal. They even used my name, which was a bit worrying. I told them I’d already asked Vodafone for my PAC code since I’m moving over to O2 - found a better deal and decided not to renew. The woman apologised and said she’d make sure my number wouldn’t be contacted again. Thing is, I’m pretty sure that wasn’t really Vodafone. I used to be on the Vodafone call centre team and we never ring up customers to renew contracts like that. I remember hearing about people getting duped into signing with other networks without really knowing who they were dealing with, ending up with multiple contracts. So yeah, I wouldn’t trust these calls blindly. Watch out!

When you answer the phone, the call gets forwarded by a Vodafone dialler straight to the next free advisor. So basically, all the calls come through that Vodafone system.
