If you ever get a call and wanna double-check it's really from your bank (have a look at the comments below), just ring your bank directly. The people on the other end at the call centre can tell if the bank is actually trying to reach you and they'll either sort things out or put you through to the right team. Keep in mind, they might not know all the different numbers the bank uses though. Even if they say it’s a scam, that doesn’t always mean the number itself is dodgy. A lot of real business numbers get spoofed, which causes trouble for both companies and their clients.

The safest bet is to hang up and ring your bank back using the number on the back of your card, but make sure your phone line’s free first. Don’t leave it too long though, as there might actually be a serious issue with your account that needs sorting quickly.
