I wish to bring attention to a dubious phone call and voicemail I received on the 2nd of March, 2024, purportedly from Santander. They attempted to contact me on two occasions, and I promptly hung up each time. Additionally, they left a voicemail stating, "This is an urgent communication from Santander requesting that you enter three digits to respond," which I completely ignored.

So, after seeing all these comments I got a bit nervous and decided to ring Santander using the number printed on my card. I got through to their fraud team and they assured me the call was legit. Turns out the card was actually blocked because I tried to use it for petrol in France, first time abroad and all that!

Received a call from this number claiming there was an attempt to withdraw funds from my Santander account, which they said had been frozen. They then requested my bank details. I told them I'd get back to them after I phoned Santander’s fraud department. They promptly blocked my card, cancelled my ID number, and arranged for a replacement card and new ID. After that, I continued to get calls asking me to press various numbers on my phone to confirm my identity or to verify if I was someone else. Just a warning to everyone-stay alert!

Got a text from +44 7380307825 saying it was Santander, asking me to confirm with Y or N if I'd authorised a payment of £6.58 to someone called ‘JKQVTAEMGLF YEBKMEC’. I answered with N and then I got a ring from 08082802011, but as soon as I picked up, they just dropped the call straight away.

Indeed, I received a pair of calls yesterday and yet another two today. It seems our landline is nothing more than bait for these con artists. This specific ruse appears to involve Santander and prompts you to hit any key - that’s how they rake in profits, with the unfortunate recipient footing the bill at a ridiculous rate. If you're like me and fancy getting a bit of revenge on these miscreants, consider dialling an 0808 number, which is complimentary for us and costs them! So, I took it upon myself to ring them 25 times! Whenever their automated message requests a key press, I swiftly hang up and dial again, and again, and again. That’s me against 25 of these fraudsters: 1-0 to me! 👍

On 12/03/20, I got a call from someone saying they were from Santander Security, leaving a voicemail with a special reference number. I didn’t bother at first, but they kept ringing. I asked my Santander manager to double-check the number and apparently it was legit! When I phoned back, they asked some security questions and mentioned a credit card charge which I’d actually cancelled myself. They thought I might’ve been tricked, but it was just me being forgetful. Everything got cleared up in the end - fairly impressive service, really.
