So, after seeing all these comments I got a bit nervous and decided to ring Santander using the number printed on my card. I got through to their fraud team and they assured me the call was legit. Got a call from this number saying there was an attempt to withdraw money from my Santander account and that it was blocked. They then asked for my bank details, but I told them I’d call back. Instead, I contacted Santander’s fraud team who immediately froze my card, cancelled my old ID number and sent me a new card along with a new ID. After that, I kept receiving calls prompting me to press certain keys to verify my identity or check if I wasn’t the person they thought. Watch out, this seems fishy!

Got a text from +44 7380307825 saying it was Santander, asking me to confirm with Y or N if I'd authorised a payment of £6.58 to someone called ‘JKQVTAEMGLF YEBKMEC’. I answered with N and then I got a ring from 08082802011, but as soon as I picked up, they just dropped the call straight away.

The latest trick’s from someone pretending to be Santander, telling you to press any button - apparently that’s how they make a fortune because the person receiving the call ends up footing a crazy bill. If you’re fed up like me and want to turn the tables, try calling their 0808 number. It’s free for the caller so they have to pay instead. I ended up ringing them about 25 times! When the message asks to press a button, I just hang up and dial again, over and over. Score: Me 25, Scammers 0! 👍

On 12/03/20, I got a call from someone saying they were from Santander Security, leaving a voicemail with a special reference number. I didn’t bother at first, but they kept ringing. I asked my Santander manager to double-check the number and apparently it was legit! When I phoned back, they asked some security questions and mentioned a credit card charge which I’d actually cancelled myself. They thought I might’ve been tricked, but it was just me being forgetful. Everything got cleared up in the end - fairly impressive service, really.
