This number is actually Santander Bank using one of those automatic checks to verify big transfers.

I received a voicemail on my mobile, and when I rang the number back, it turned out to be a robotic message that seemed to be affiliated with Santander security. It asked me to verify my identity by selecting from three listed birth years-one of which I recognised as mine. However, I chose to hang up at that point. Earlier that day, I'd had a bit of a hassle with Santander concerning an online payment transfer I was trying to execute. Thankfully, I managed to sort things out with their security team; the payment went through, and my online account was reinstated. I was quite taken aback by that call asking for security information. It’s rather concerning that security details are being solicited through automated calls.

I experienced something similar earlier today. The call seemed quite genuine, but when I rang up Santander to check, they confirmed that they hadn’t attempted to reach me at all.
