I've just been informed that I have won £250 in the cryptic crossword competition. The contact number shown is 0208 272 8888. I don't know yet if this is genuine, but being an ex-copper? Hm... Especially when asked for my home address and bank details. I will add further comments when I can verify or otherwise

After my message yesterday where I mentioned that 08082728888 was a scam, I've just double checked with the Daily Mail and turns out its legit, the offer was real after all. Sorry for the confusion, but with so many scams out there these days, it's easy to be a bit too suspicious!

Got a message that looked like it was from Mail Plus about renewing my subscription. It seemed legit at first since the email asked if I wanted to cancel or keep it going, and included this phone number to ring. Felt dodgy though when I said I was short on time and couldn’t give my card info right away. The person on the phone then offered to set up a call for Saturday at 10 instead. Just a heads up to be careful with these kinds of calls...

So, I got a message claiming to be from The Mail, with a heading like 'Urgent: Your mail subscription didn't go through'. It included links to a couple of sites:

One was The Mail Subscriptions official site and
www.mailsubscriptions.co.uk

It also had a phone number, 0808 272 8888

I actually have a Mail subscription and just this week received my latest voucher book.

This number turned out to be a total scam.

So I asked about buying vouchers for the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, thinking it might be a cheaper way to get my papers. They gave me this number to sort it out, but honestly, it was pointless and didn 't help me at all.
