I've just been informed that I have won £250 in the cryptic crossword competition. The contact number shown is 0208 272 8888. I don't know yet if this is genuine, but being an ex-copper? Hm... Especially when asked for my home address and bank details. I will add further comments when I can verify or otherwise

After my note yesterday regarding the number 08082728888 being from a scammer, I've since done a bit of digging and discovered that it's actually a legitimate call. The offer they made is indeed genuine. I'm sorry for the mix-up, Daily Mail! In today's world of non-stop scams and dodgy calls, it's easy to be overly cautious sometimes!

Dodgy individual masquerading as someone from Mail Plus, attempting to renew subscriptions. I got a rather convincing email that seemed to come from Mail itself, inquiring about whether I intended to renew or cancel. They provided a number for me to ring. It all felt a bit off, especially when I mentioned I couldn’t dig out my card details at that moment since I was rather busy. Strangely enough, she offered to schedule a call for Saturday at 10 instead. Just a heads up for everyone…stay vigilant!

I just received a communication claiming to be from The Mail, titled 'Immediate Action Required: Your subscription has lapsed'. The message contained links to the following:

The Mail Subscriptions site and
www.mailsubscriptions.co.uk

Additionally, there was a phone number listed as 0808 272 8888.

For the record, I do hold a subscription with The Mail and, rather recently, I received a fresh set of vouchers.

Best wishes,

I received this number when I inquired about acquiring vouchers for the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday. I was informed it would be a more economical way to secure my daily fix of news. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a fruitless endeavour.
