Some bloke with an Asian accent called me and I was so gullible I ended up giving him all my bank info, card details, and even my email. I also gave him the verification code that got sent to me. Then he told me to put in more cash, and that’s when it clicked it was a scam. Why on earth would I need to add more money if I’m meant to be getting a refund? I hung up straight away and now I’m trying to recover the cash he swiped from me.

Just got a call from someone saying a Mark William was using my PayPal and they needed my email to sort a refund. Absolutely no chance! It definitely felt like a call centre, I told them off and they hung up. Then out of curiosity I rang the number back, and was greeted with “PayPal, how can I assist you?” Crazy! I really don’t get why PayPal’s security can’t crack down on this. If I can call them, surely they can track the number and find out who’s footing the bill for the 0808 line?

I got a call from some Indian guy who said someone tried to use my credit card to spend £200 on PayPal. He mentioned some transactions I'd done on eBay before to try and sound legit. I almost fell for it and gave him my card info and email. They then tried to charge £930 to my card but thankfully the bank stopped it. Honestly, I was so relieved. Got a call from this number claiming I did two dodgy overseas transactions today, said it goes against Amazon rules and they’d help me get my money back. Thing is, my Amazon account’s been shut for about 5 years now, haven’t used it at all, and the only bank account they might be linked to is long gone since I switched banks and cards multiple times. The guy even started threatening me, saying if I hung up I’d lose all rights to refunds and control over my Amazon account. He was yelling to stop me from talking, but I just told him I’m no fool and ended the call.

I keep getting harassing calls from this number, and it’s becoming rather annoying. The first time they contacted me, they claimed my PayPal account had been compromised and tried to fish for my personal information. I made it clear that I don’t even possess a PayPal account, yet they persisted with their nonsense. I eventually had enough and said something rather unkind before hanging up. Since then, I've received more than ten further calls from them. It’s high time I block the lot!

I’ve been getting hassled by these lot since before Christmas. One time a bloke even threatened to ‘turn things up a notch’ if I kept calling him out, said he could cause me loads of trouble. Someone called claiming to be from paypal, asked for my email so they could send a text. They mentioned pre-authorised payments from R.Williams for 5p and £50, and said the money would be taken unless they had my email. I received a call on Boxing Day from some chaps claiming that a dozen pairs of trainers had been ordered, but the payment had failed. Now, I don't use my PayPal anymore, so I shut that account for good. They even called my home phone and annoyed my sister that day, but I was out enjoying the city. I've since alerted my bank, and they've put a hold on my account for safety purposes, issuing me new cards. Honestly, do not answer their calls - they're a right bunch of con artists! They attempted to access my university student finance card and my personal savings; they are simply dreadful. The number they contacted me from was +44 808 196 4413, so please be vigilant!

Tried calling but no answer and they didn’t bother to leave a voicemail. Rang them back as well but still no reply. If it was a scammer, they’re pretty lucky - I’d have given them a proper earful 😂

Fraud Alert! I received a call from a bloke claiming to be from PayPal, asserting there had been some dodgy activity linked to my account. The catch? I don’t even have a PayPal account! When I pressed him for specific details, he flatly refused to provide any. As soon as I suggested he might be a scammer, he swiftly ended the call. Dodgy behaviour if you ask me!

I got a call from a woman with a strong Indian accent claiming to be from Amazon. She asked if I’d signed up for a three month Amazon service. I said yes just to see what she’d say. She then told me she was putting me down for a three month order. Shortly after, I got a text that looked like it was from Amazon with an OTP code '874568'. The same lady rang me back four times, trying to get more info from me.

Some bloke called me claiming he was from Paypal, saying there was dodgy stuff going on with my account. Problem is, I don’t even have a Paypal account! When I asked what info he had on me, he wouldn't say a word. As soon as I told him he was a scammer, he just cut the call.

Once more, some woman with an Asian accent called sayin my PayPal had two payments pending and asked if she should approve them. I said I’d look into it, then she just hung up. It’s one of loads of these annoying scams we get all the time.

These callers have been ringing me during the crack of dawn, claiming to represent AMAZON. They're quite adept at sounding credible, particularly as they seem to navigate through security questions with ease. It wasn't until I was well into the conversation that a little voice in my head urged me to transfer my funds. I promptly altered my Amazon details, updated Google, and cancelled my cards. Despite my efforts, these pests haven’t let up-it's astounding they would bother someone over the Christmas weekend!

I keep receiving repeated phone calls from the same number, supposedly representing PayPal. They've informed me that a payment of £268 is trying to go through, and they claim they can intercept it. It's quite clever how they send an authentication code to my phone. When I mentioned I would hang up and contact PayPal myself due to my suspicions about the legitimacy of their call, they became quite confrontational, insisting that if I didn’t comply, they wouldn’t take any responsibility should the payment go ahead. This morning I received yet another call. I didn't pick up, but upon calling back, someone answered with a cheerful "Good morning, PayPal". Naturally, I hung up immediately. Shortly after, the same number rang again, this time claiming to be from Amazon. When I pointed out that just moments earlier they were representing PayPal, they abruptly terminated the call. I'm genuinely worried that they could be scamming unsuspecting individuals out of their hard-earned cash. The number in question is 0808 196 4413.

Got a call from some bloke pretending to be from Paypal. He sounded Indian or something. I just kept saying "Hello, HELLOOOOO, HEEEELLLLOOOOO" over and over, it really annoyed him and he ended up hanging up. Honestly, saying "Helloooooo" like that is a great trick to mess with these dumb scammers! - True story! :-)

Got a call saying they were from PayPal on a number, but it’s been a lot of trouble like someone pretending to be from my bank, BT, or broadband. Honestly, I reckon the government should step up and find better ways to track these people down and make sure they face the consequences.

Somebody rang me pretending to be from PayPal, saying I'd purchased a laptop and there was an issue with it. When I told them I was going to hang up and contact PayPal myself, they started acting all rude.

I've had two calls from 08081964413 now. Even though I thought I'd blocked it, the call still managed to come through. I missed answering it, but when I looked up the number, turns out it's that same PayPal scam I'd dealt with before. I've alerted PayPal, but they said there's little they can do and advised me to send the number to [email protected]. I've sent it over but honestly, I’m not expecting much to happen.

I've received calls from this number on two separate occasions now. The first time, it was a caller claiming to be from Amazon, and they nearly drained my account before I caught on just in the nick of time and managed to power off my device. This time, they're pretending to be from PayPal. I urge everyone to steer clear of this number and to share this warning!

This number seems to be constantly ringing my phone, but I refuse to pick up for anyone I don’t recognise. Having perused the remarks on this site, I’ve made my mind up to block the caller. It’s high time the authorities took action and implemented substantial penalties and significant prison terms for those behind these scams.

Got a call like this claiming they were PayPal, but it’s definitely a scam. Don’t share any info with them! If they get hold of your email, they can reset your password with the “forgot password” trick, then lock you out by entering the wrong password loads of times. I had to cancel my card and get a replacement because of it - such a pain and worryingly convincing. Watch out!

Received a call purporting to be from Amazon, claiming there was dubious activity on my account. They requested that I validate my phone number, which I firmly declined to do. Shortly after, they dispatched a code to my phone and urged me to authenticate it in order to avert an order for a television that I never placed. I decided against confirming anything and promptly ended the call. To be on the safe side, I deleted my card information from Amazon and had my bank cards frozen.

I was absolutely fuming when I questioned why I was getting a call on Boxing Day. I ended up hanging up, but they had the audacity to ring me again, hurling expletives down the line. I was utterly taken aback!

Had a couple of calls on the 23rd and 26th of December 2020 pretending to be from PayPal. They try and trick you into giving out your info. The moment they have your email, they lock your account right there on the phone by deliberately entering the wrong password loads of times. They run through all the usual security questions and then suddenly ask for your full card number. If you need to change your password or speak to someone at PayPal, ring 020 8080 6500 directly. Don’t fall for their scams!

Had a bloke on the phone claiming to be from PayPal, said his name was John Smith, tried to say he’d charged me £199. I left him chatting away while I double-checked my account - turns out no money had been taken.
