I had a rather alarming experience recently! I found myself trapped on a webpage that wouldn’t close and was bombarded with an incessant voice telling me to call 0808-168-4088 for assistance in removing a purported virus. In a bit of a panic, I gave in and dialled the number. But as soon as it connected, there was silence - not a soul on the other end! That sent alarm bells ringing in my head, and I swiftly hung up. After rebooting my computer, I conducted a thorough security scan and, thank goodness, it revealed no threats. I must admit, though, I'm left feeling rather uneasy about that call!

Happened to me as well, this annoying page wouldn’t close and kept playing a message telling me to call 0808-168-4088 for help with a virus. Got really stressed and called the number, but no one picked up. I was straight away suspicious it was some sort of scam, so I hung up quick. Then I restarted my computer and ran a security scan. Luckily, nothing showed up but that phone call definitely left me uneasy.

DO NOT RING THIS NUMBER, the website linked to it is dangerous and probably loaded with malware. You should notify the National Crime Agency about it. When you open the site, it immediately claims your computer is infected with a virus. If you don’t have strong antivirus or security in place, the supposed virus will start to install itself and take control of vital system data. Never call the number they provide. Just close your browser or use CTRL+ALT+DEL to quit the task if you can’t close normally. If that doesn’t work, force a restart to escape the page quickly. Don’t fall for their trick and install anything they offer.
