I’ve tried another firm before for filing and can honestly say ACS is in a league of its own. The other place was a nightmare with constant mix-ups, loads of basic mistakes on forms, and I spent ages waiting for replies to simple questions. ACS has been the complete opposite. Their answers came swiftly and were easy to understand, plus the automated reminders kept me on track without any hassle. The step-by-step instructions made everything straightforward. Overall, I’m really pleased and definitely plan on sticking with them for a long time.

Phone rang from someone saying they were from "Consumer Technical Repairs" Insurance. They even had my password to make it sound legit. I did sign up with an insurance company not long ago, but since then, I’ve had loads of calls from different firms all pretending to be from the same place. It’s been non-stop pestering me for the past couple of months. Looks like this is just another try to swipe my card info.

So my neighbour told me about this company, right? I decided to give them a go and ordered a little gadget. Took about a week to get it through the post, and honestly, it’s doing what it’s supposed to pretty well.

Something feels really dodgy about this company. They rang my mother-in-law saying her caller ID subscription needed renewing. She ended up paying £150 but all she got was a cheap gadget worth about £20 from Amazon. Feels like a total rip-off to me.

My mum got a call from a guy called Louis who said he was with BT. He told her she’d receive some call blocking kit in the post, but only after she paid £179 for the hire and service, which was supposed to last three years before going free. Unfortunately, she ended up paying the full amount. What’s crazy is that she actually started a legit BT call protect plan just last week. How these scammers got hold of that info to trick her, I have no idea. She’s now dealing with Barclays’ fraud team, hoping they can sort something out.

About a fortnight ago, I got a ring from this number offering to stop nuisance calls to my landline. I signed up for the service and got a letter saying welcome, but no actual call blocker had arrived. When I phoned them back, they said it was being customised for me. To my surprise, the device turned up at the start of this week, and since then, I haven’t gotten a single bother with unwanted calls. So yeah, really pleased with how it’s working out!

I got caught out by this number as well. At first, it seemed a bit amusing, but the caller sounded pretty convincing when I asked about the business. She even gave me their company number (10364936), so I figured it was all above board. I called that number a couple of times since I hadn’t heard anything, and even received a letter with their logo on it. They kept saying things were progressing, but now it’s been 7 months. Tried phoning them today, but the number’s gone dead. Looks like I’ve been fooled and ended up losing £150.

A girl called Alana phoned me, she seemed pretty genuine and gave me all the right details. I decided to give their service a shot. Although it took a good bit of time, I finally got a letter from the valuation team saying my council tax band would be lowered. Haven't got the refund yet, but my monthly charges have started to drop.

Yesterday my dad got a call claiming he owed £4000 because his council tax band was incorrect. He told me about it and I immediately thought it was fishy since I usually get all those sorts of messages via email. I checked the number they used and it matched what he told me. They were really good at sounding legit, but honestly, it’s just cruel how they target people who might not see through it. No shame at all, taking advantage of the vulnerable like that.

So, today I got a call from a lovely lady named Charlie, sounded really genuine. She said I could get £3000 back from an overpayment on my council tax due to being in the wrong band but needed £150 upfront to begin the process. Luckily, I looked it up here first, and it turns out loads of folks have been caught out by this. Definitely feels like a scam aimed at older people.

I got a call from someone saying they were with Godwin Smith Malone, or GSM for short. I found their site where it says GSM is just a trading name for Affinity Sales Ltd. But when I looked up Affinity Sales Ltd at Companies House, it turns out they were shut down back in 2015! This has scam written all over it, no doubt.

So yesterday (11/4/2019), I got a call from a woman called Megan, who said she was from something like Goldwyn Smith Malone. She told me I was paying too much council tax compared to other houses in my area and that I could claim back about 10 years’ worth of overpayment, which was apparently a big amount. She mentioned I could get a surveyor’s report - either privately for £500 or a government scheme for £150. When she asked for my card details, I refused because it sounded dodgy straight away. Seeing so many comments like mine, shouldn’t there be more done to stop these sorts of scams, especially to protect older folk?

Earlier today, this lady named Megan Pheasant rang me up claiming there was a mistake with my council tax band. She said I needed to pay £150 upfront to get some money back. I got a call from a place named Godwin Smith Maloney saying my council tax band was wrong. They promised to sort everything out and help me get nearly £5000 back. But they wanted me to pay £150 upfront first. Honestly, don’t fall for this, it’s definitely a scam.

had a chat on the phone with a really nice woman about checking my council tax situation. I’d seen something about it on the TV by that Martin Lewis bloke, so I figured it was worth a go. Honestly, I’d never actually bothered to check it on my own before, so it’s a relief someone else is handling it for me now. At first I wasn’t completely certain about the firm since it was all done over the phone, but after waiting a bit I did get the paperwork through in the post and have sent it back as asked.

Beware of a council tax con linked to a company called GSM Marketing, which recently switched their name to dodge suspicion. They're going after older folks, which is really unsettling. The numbers 02038616393 and 02038873194 are tied to them. If you look them up on Companies House, you'll see the name swap attempt to cover up their dodgy actions. Proper disgusting behaviour! Got a ring from someone called Cleo claiming we’d been paying too much council tax and were owed a refund of about £3,000 to £4,000 spanning 20 years. She said we’d have to get a survey done - they had a private one for £500 or a government one for £150. Then she wanted our card info, but luckily I said no, it sounded dodgy and like a scam right away.

My mum got a phone call from 08081641633, a 'lovely lady' who claimed the council tax band for her house was incorrect and she could get back around £5000. They asked her to pay £150 on the spot to begin the process. Luckily, she didn’t fall for it and said no. Definitely sounds like a scam to me.

My mum, who’s 79, sadly fell victim to some awful people pretending to help and actually ended up giving them her bank details. Thankfully, we managed to freeze her card and the bank is handling the rest now. It’s just horrible. They told her she’d get over £4000 back for council tax she supposedly overpaid and she believed them without a second thought. Mum’s got serious health issues, including cancer and heart problems, so it’s heartbreaking. These scams targeting older folks are becoming far too common and it really pisses me off.

Yesterday my mum got a call from this number, saying they could help her claim back £6,000 on her council tax. They tried to get her to give her credit card info so they could charge £150. Luckily, she spotted straight away it was a scam. She’s 82 and it’s so heartbreaking how these scammers target older people. I’ve seen loads of similar complaints about this number online, so it’s clearly a common trick. I really hope the authorities look into this and shut these folks down. It’s truly awful that companies mess with vulnerable people like that. Thanks a lot.

I got a call from someone saying they were with GSM National Tax Advisors in Hove, telling me I was owed about £5000 due to an overcharge on my council tax from the last 25 years. They wanted me to pay £150 upfront to handle it and asked for my bank details, which I refused to give. It sounded dodgy to me since you can check your council tax band for free online anyway. The caller was a woman named Chloe from GSM National Tax Consultants, Hove.

This afternoon I got a call from someone named Abby on 08081 646 333 about an issue with my council tax banding. As soon as she brought up my credit card details, I knew straight away it was a con. I got a call from someone named Shanaze on this number, telling me I had overpaid council tax. Got a call today from a woman named Jenna, who said she worked for a company called GSM based in London. She claimed my property was in the wrong council tax band and that I owed nearly £2,600 because of it. She went on with a well-rehearsed spiel about Martin Lewis and how hundreds of thousands of homes were wrongly banded going back to the poll tax days of the early 90s. Jenna told me any refund would come straight from the council, and they charged a £150 fee, adding I could try to sort it myself but would need to hire an expensive surveyor. Then, out of nowhere, she asked if I had a cheque book, which really set off warning bells. I told her I wasn’t handing over any money or personal details until I’d looked into it myself. She said she’d send some information through the post. When she confirmed my details, she actually got my first name and postcode wrong. I’m almost certain this is just a scam trying to fish for people’s financial info.
