6 monthsSomething like this happened to me too. Someone called saying there was suspicious activity on my card from a weird part of the UK. He asked me to read out the customer number on the back of my card. I told him I thought only the bank would ever ask for that. He insisted he wasn’t a scammer, kept saying he was legit, and finally told me which bank he was supposedly from. When he said Natwest, I told him that wasn’t my bank and that he was trying to scam me. He quickly ended the call after that.UKNatwest6 monthsGot a call from a bloke with a British accent claiming to be from bank security. He said someone had used our debit card to purchase wine at Waitrose and had it sent to some place in Birmingham. He even knew our name and where we live. When I told him we never shop at Waitrose, he asked if we could check our debit card. I asked which bank, and he said Lloyd’s. I told him we’re not with Lloyds, then he just ended the call.WaitroseBirminghamLloyd ’ sLloyds6 monthsThis number’s a total scam, probably trying to nab your bank or credit card info. Best thing to do? Just hang up straight away and block it. Don’t waste time!7 monthsGot two calls from this number on my landline, but no voicemail left. After reading the previous comment, I’m pretty convinced it’s someone dodgy trying their luck. What cheeky characters!7 monthsHad a call from a bloke with a Scottish accent claiming to be from Visa debit card security. He asked if I’d made a certain transaction, which made me suspicious straight away. I said no, and he started asking more questions but refused to tell me anything about the bank or card in question, citing privacy reasons. I told him I wasn’t really sure he was legit, so he asked for the phone number on the back of my card, saying he could check if it was right. I wasn’t comfortable giving that out, and next thing, he just hung up on me!Submit Your Own Report (0808 134 8245)
