Got a call earlier today around 1.45pm on my home phone from someone called Paul claiming to be with BT’s security dept. He said our email was flagged for a virus and mentioned he tried calling my mobile too, which was charging then. Luckily, he left his number on my mobile: +1 (609) 750-2931 from Plainsboro, NJ, USA. BT? Nah, doesn’t sound legit at all. Total scam, no doubt about it. The whole thing just set off alarm bells for me.

I got a call from 08081004332, a bloke called "Paul" with a Birmingham accent saying he was from BT internet support. He told me there was an issue with my internet connection. I rang BT myself and they said they don’t call out of the blue like that and there’s nothing wrong with my service. He didn’t try to sell me anything and sounded quite legit, but turns out it had nothing to do with BT at all.

This number is clearly a fraudulent one, attempting to frighten individuals by claiming there are viruses affecting their internet connection. British Telecom has confirmed this is a scam. Quite the bunch of crooks, if you ask me!
