There was a pause of roughly thirty seconds, and then a woman's voice chimed in with a cheerful "Thank you!"

So, these chaps just called and had a natter with my wife. They've said they'll be ringing back at five, the moment I'm back home. Any suggestions on how to really stir the pot with them?

I had a call from this number today, 30th June, around 3 PM, and they even mentioned my name! It quickly dawned on me that it was a scam, so I just set the phone down on the table for about 15 minutes. I’ve heard that doing that can really mess with their operations. Quite amusing, really!

I've noticed this number popping up quite frequently on our home phone's caller ID. Whenever a call comes in from an unfamiliar number, we tend to ignore it until the caller introduces themselves on the answerphone. As a result, I've never actually had a conversation with them!

I received a trio of calls from some outfit claiming to be affiliated with Windows. They mentioned having a plethora of error notifications linked to our computer. Interestingly, they asserted they were based in Luton, Bedfordshire. However, when I began to ask a few questions, they promptly hung up. I later followed up with Microsoft and discovered that they don't actually make phone calls to customers at all. Quite dodgy, I must say!

I received two calls from this number; the first one ended abruptly, while the second turned into a rather unexpected chat. Thankfully, we stumbled upon this forum beforehand. An Asian gentleman on the line was adamant that our computer was malfunctioning-classic nonsense, really. So, we decided to have a bit of fun and acted completely bonkers, launching into a torrent of random gibberish. He became quite irate and hung up after about ten minutes, much to our amusement!

I just received a call from a lady purporting to be from Windows. As others have mentioned in their comments, they claim to have identified issues with our computer. I promptly hung up on them and would strongly advise against granting them any access. This is definitely a scam!

We recently received a call from this number, and the person on the line had an Indian accent. She asked for our partner, but when we pressed her about the nature of the call, she claimed it was regarding some “window errors.” As soon as we pointed out that she seemed to be trying to scam us, she acted like we were the daft ones. I'd much rather be seen as foolish than get taken in by a con artist. The number she called from was 08080808011.

I just received a call a few minutes back from someone who sounded like they were from India. It was the classic Windows error ruse where they try to guide you to a certain area on your hard drive to locate some so-called error report. As soon as we mentioned we use a Mac, her confusion became palpable, and she promptly ended the call! In short, it's clearly a scam, so beware and don’t fall into their trap!

At around 10:20 in the morning, I received a call from a woman claiming to be called Karen. She had a hint of an Indian accent and said she was representing PCMaster. She mentioned something about an issue with my computer, though I knew there wasn’t any problem at all. The call ended abruptly when we asked her to confirm her name and the company she was calling from.

When we answered the call, we identified ourselves as Mrs X, and we mentioned that we would be officially recognised as such once we tied the knot. After that, we inquired about the identity of the caller. Unexpectedly, the person on the other end hung up. The caller appeared to be a woman, and her accent seemed to have a hint of Indian or possibly Chinese influence.

I just received a call from someone masquerading as a representative from Windows, attempting to peddle a nonexistent virus protection service. It turns out, their true intention was to breach my system. We really ought to be more vigilant, as it's easy to fall for such scams. Make sure you don't make the same mistake!

Thank heavens for the web! It seems we're inundated with calls from some foreign chap who claims there are serious issues with our computer and that he’s here to resolve them on behalf of Microsoft. It’s a bit baffling, as we can't quite decipher whether he mentioned BT or BC. After we rang 1471 to check the caller’s number, we decided to give him a call back, but lo and behold, the phone was disconnected before we even finished dialing! Has anyone else encountered this nonsense? There's no way I'm letting him have a peek at my computer! What’s the real scam behind this?

We received a call from this number and it was a rather dodgy-sounding chap who started snooping around our computer as soon as we mentioned we knew his spiel was a scam. He suddenly took on a rather menacing tone, claiming he was quite fascinated by us. At that point, we resorted to blowing a whistle into the phone, but he stubbornly stayed on the line. Eventually, we decided to just set the phone aside without actually hanging up, leaving him to run his bill up while we sauntered off. He had finally disappeared about ten minutes later when we returned.
