I just received a call from this number where a chap claimed to represent Vodafone. He requested that I verify my personal details under the guise of security before he could continue. I made it quite clear that if they were genuinely from Vodafone, they would already have my information, and I would never divulge my details to an unsolicited caller! When I pressed him for the reason behind the call, he stated it was merely a courtesy check to see if I was satisfied with my current tariff and if I was interested in making any changes. I reminded him that I had only switched to my current plan a mere two months ago, and I’m tied into a contract for two years. If they were authentic Vodafone representatives, they'd surely be aware of that! At that point, the line went dead!

The telecom firms ought to be held accountable for the hassle caused to us unsuspecting folks. Ideally, they should cover any expenses we might incur when we pick up the phone only to find it’s yet another spammer. Maybe, just maybe, that would deter them from handing out such dodgy numbers in the beginning.
