Received a call at around 3:50 PM on 2nd September '10 from someone identifying himself as George Higdon. He claimed to be associated with Microsoft and offered to resolve issues with our sluggish computer. We mentioned that we weren't in a position to pay, but he insisted that he could still assist us and we could settle the bill once we had the funds. The moment we told him that our computer was functioning properly, he abruptly ended the call.

I’m assuming the call was rather unexpected, and it’s crucial to ponder a few things before you proceed. We wouldn’t just accept a random call from a company claiming there’s a problem with our lawn mower, much less our computer! Oh dear, I received a rather suspicious phone call this afternoon, and I ended up going through what I now realise was a completely dodgy process with a woman who had a foreign accent. At first, I thought it was all above board when I reported my computer being sluggish, but once we saw all those error messages pop up, it felt too good to be true. Fortunately, I passed the call to my partner, who just walked in, and she was adamant about not agreeing to any monthly direct debit. Now I'm left wondering whether they managed to tamper with our computer or access any personal information. It's left me feeling quite anxious, to be honest.

I received a call at 13:00 on 22nd October, supposedly from a chap named Hayden, representing Higdon, George-something to do with a toll from India. It all sounded remarkably similar to what others have shared here. When I inquired about how she acquired my number, she mentioned TalkTalk (which, funnily enough, is my provider too!). She gave me a number, 02033180526, claiming I should ring her supervisor. However, she seemed rather hesitant and suggested I might be wasting my time, calling it a potential scam. Quite the suspicious encounter, if you ask me!

We've received two calls regarding this number, from a rather tenacious individual claiming to represent Microsoft Help PC On Line. She asserts that she collaborates with BT, TalkTalk, and a few others to resolve internet connectivity issues more swiftly. She had the audacity to call us back on Tuesday, urging us to power up our computer so we could tackle the so-called problem. Could this genuinely be a legitimate call, or is it merely a scam?

The old ring is just the same, so it seems they're still at it! We reckon Hedon George is indeed who she claimed to be. We decided to cut off contact since we couldn’t quite get a handle on them. I do hope I could have managed to keep them on the line a bit longer.

This scam has been plaguing us for ages now. Earlier today, we received our second call and decided to humour the chap on the line. We kept him engaged for nearly an hour! These folks certainly don’t give up easily. If you’re not in the mood to entertain them, just tell them that you don't have a computer or that you're using a Mac. We cheekily mentioned we were still on Windows 98, and he had to dash off to find out how he could 'assist' me further. He ran through the usual routine of suggesting I check ‘eventvwr’ for ‘trojans’. It turned into quite an amusing start to the day!

Absolutely, love! These folks reached out to us while we were grappling with some technical troubles on our PC. We gave them the green light, and they proceeded to carry out a thorough examination of our system. It’s safe to say, after their intervention, we can genuinely notice a remarkable improvement. Just to clarify, we’re not employed by them; we’re simply members of their service.

On the 3rd of September, we received multiple calls while we were away. When we finally answered on the fifth call, there was a person on the line with a very British-sounding name, though their accent was distinctly foreign. They attempted to persuade us to turn on our computer, claiming they needed access due to a complaint made to Microsoft about our slow computer performance. They insisted that they were operating a free service provided by Microsoft to assist with any issues we might have. Furthermore, they alleged that we had filed a complaint about our internet speeds, mentioning TalkTalk as our internet service provider, which was quite erroneous.

@David. What a load of nonsense that is! This operation is nothing short of a scam, and those involved can easily access your usernames and passwords. Helen, for goodness’ sake, please update all your passwords for your email and banking accounts immediately. These scammers often link up to someone’s computer using dodgy means (think along the lines of TeamViewer) and can seize control to install all sorts of malicious junk. Stay vigilant!

We've received three calls from this number. Someone has been introducing herself as 'Sharon,' but her accent is quite unusual. When we mentioned we might call the police, she promptly hung up. Quite bizarre, isn't it?

On the 3rd of September, we received multiple calls-four to be precise-while we were out and about. It wasn't until the fifth call, when we were home, that we answered. The person on the line had quite an English-sounding name but spoke with a noticeably strong foreign accent. They attempted to persuade us to power up our computer so they could gain remote access, claiming that we had filed a complaint with Microsoft regarding our sluggish machine. This individual insisted that they were part of a Microsoft service that could assist us with any tech issues, free of charge, no less! They even alleged that we had made a complaint with our Internet Service Provider about our connection speed, mentioning TalkTalk-though that’s not our provider at all. Quite the dodgy situation, really!

Received a call at exactly 1:00 PM on the 22nd of October, supposedly from someone named Hayden or Hydon George, hailing from India. The tale she spun was eerily similar to those mentioned previously. When I queried how she got hold of our phone number, she claimed it was through Talktalk (my provider too, mind you). She then dished out a number, 02033180526, claiming it was for her supervisor. Not a chance we're ringing that! I reckon there’s just a tad too much “p” in their name-it should rightly read the Help Scam Line!

I had a similar encounter to what Snowy described. The woman introduced herself as either Shaun or Sean, but her accent was distinctly foreign and quite pronounced. We gathered her details and made it clear that we would be in touch again before escalating the matter to the authorities.

I recently received a call from someone named Haydn George, and the details match exactly what others have said. It all kicked off when I reported some sluggish internet issues online. Just typical, isn't it? At first, it seemed somewhat believable. While she was still yakking away on the phone, we looked up her number and discussed some of the findings shared here. After that, she abruptly hung up, yet she decided to ring back twice more. I made it clear that she was starting to vex me. Now, I’m off to have a word with my phone provider to see what sort of action they can take against this lot.
