I foolishly handed over cash for what they assured me was a one-off cover with no automatic renewal. They "kindly" threw in six months of tech support as some sort of favour. Yeah, right. Now they’re ringing me non-stop every single day, using all sorts of numbers, some from abroad and others from mobile phones. I paid them £499 for a one-time fix and six months of tech support. They kept pushing me to extend the support for another six months, but I refused because it was too expensive. I pretty much forgot about them until about a month ago when I started getting some threatening calls from India claiming I’d signed up for an 18-month contract (which I definitely didn’t) and that I owed either £1,000 if paid immediately or £1,800 otherwise. Of course, I didn’t pay a penny. I cancelled my credit card since I was sure they had the details and told my bank not to authorise any payments to them. Then just yesterday, a new number called me saying they’ve marked it as a bad debt and were sending bailiffs. I’ve reported the whole thing to the Met Police’s Fraud Department. I assumed it was a complimentary service from Windows or something, but when I said I couldn't pay, he came back with a lower price, which I gave my card details for.
