Looking at the other replies, I reckon it’s from SSE since I’d called them the day before. The recorded message got all messed up right when it was supposed to say the company’s name, so I just ended up deleting it to be on the safe side.

Got two calls from 0064 43529482873 today. Missed the initial ring, but when they rang back, it was the typical "We need to verify your internet" spiel. Threatening to cut my internet doesn’t scare me at all. The first caller spoke with an American accent, the second was Indian. I told them straight up they were scam artists, then they just clicked off.

SSE keeps ringing me up all the time. They fitted a rubbish meter and then charged us £2,000 we don’t owe. We got a different company to check the meter and they said it was faulty and the readings were wrong. We changed providers, had a new meter put in, and we're refusing to pay the fake debt.

Got a call tonight around 6.40pm. It was an automated message just saying it was from my "Energy Provider", I didn't reply. After checking this site, I figured it was actually from my Mum’s energy company, SSE (mine's EDF). Honestly, why can’t they just say it’s SSE on the call so we know who’s ringing? Frankly, I couldn’t be less interested in who’s on the other end, what firm it might be, whether I have debts or if I've supposedly won something. I contacted Southern Electric yesterday, and lo and behold, this number rang me today. The voice on the other end was distinctly pre-recorded. It kept trying to kick off with, "I am 'insert name here' and..." but seemed to be struggling to get through its lines. It's likely an authentic call, but it felt quite frustrating dealing with a robotic voice. Perhaps this is a glimpse of the future of communications!
