Later on the same day, I decided to look up the number and found out it was flagged as a scam on this site. The next day I rang Sky. Some lady called saying she was Hannah from Sky, telling me about some changes with the BBC that might impact people like me with an older Sky box. She mentioned my first name and asked what Sky box I have, saying I could get a free upgrade after answering some security stuff. When she asked for my last name, I told her I was busy with work and would ring back. Suddenly, she seemed in a rush to hang up, which was pretty funny lol.

I normally don’t pick up unknown numbers, just search them here, but today I was waiting for a call so I answered. A polite sounding young guy said he was calling from Sky and mentioned I had an old Sky box that needed upgrading. He said they'd be happy to replace it with the newer SkyQ box. I thought, sounds great! But then I got suspicious as he asked for my account details. Seriously, since when does Sky just hand out free upgrades? Glad I trusted my gut this time! I received a rather dodgy phone call yesterday from someone claiming to be a representative of Sky, suggesting that if I granted him access to my account, he might be able to secure me a better package. I was quick to retort that if he were genuinely affiliated with Sky, he’d have the necessary access already. His reply was rather fishy, insisting that for security reasons, Sky couldn't give him that access, yet he persisted with his pitch about helping me snag a better deal. The alarm bells were ringing loud and clear on my end, as it was pretty evident I was dealing with a scammer. Genuine agents from reputable firms, including banks, don’t operate like this. Last Friday at about 3 pm, I got a call from 08008620818 saying they were from Sky. I told the person to email me instead as I was tied up, but they said they’d ring back later. Today, I got a call at 9 am asking for my name, postcode, and then a passcode for Sky! When I said no, she tried a different trick asking for the last four digits of my credit card. Sky would never ask for that sort of info. Definitely a scam.

Like others have said, the person said they were from Sky. They wanted to run through some security checks - I told them my full name, but when they asked for my address, I said I didn’t feel comfy sharing personal info over the phone. At that point, they just cut off the call! After that, I looked at my Sky account and saw my mobile number isn’t even linked to it (which was the number they called). So yeah, definitely a scam!

I received my initial call on the 16th of December 2022, but alas, I must have been out and about at that time. No voicemail was left, unfortunately. Subsequently, I noticed five more calls last week while I was away from home, thus I never had the chance to engage with anyone. My answerphone was switched on, yet it went unused. These calls seemed to arrive during the morning or early afternoon hours. As a long-standing Sky customer, I can only presume this was an attempt at a scam. Apologies for not having more pertinent details at hand, but I recognised that many of the remarks here date back to 2021, so I thought it a good idea to alert you that this number is still making the rounds.

This number has called me on both my landline and mobile in the past week. When I picked up on the landline, no one spoke but I could hear background noise like a call centre. After a few seconds, a voice with a foreign accent said my first name and then quickly claimed to be Stacey from Sky. I just hung up because Sky doesnt give me a landline number. I blocked the number and told them no. Today it tried ringing my mobile but I just declined the call. Some neighbours who arent even Sky customers got the same calls. Looks like a total scam to me.

Real Sky phone numbers are just as dodgy as real bank numbers with scammers faking them. While I wouldn’t suggest blocking proper bank numbers, real Sky ones are a nightmare. Got a call from someone claiming to be Sky, saying BBC1 and BBC2 are switching to HD and we’d lose them without an HD box. They said they'd send a new one and even fit it for free. Then asked for some security info. Thing is, we already have an HD box... I told them I’d check with Sky myself, and they were fine with that, even gave me a number to call the 'Sky migration team' at 03337595121. The bloke on the phone sounded proper friendly and honest, like a real call centre person.
