But as soon as I said I’d hang up and double-check PayPal’s fraud number myself, they just ended the call. Curious, I played along for a bit to find out their intentions, and it turned out they were trying to hawk a new phone. I attempted to get in touch with EE for clarification, but their lines were jammed with calls. If you’re uncertain about a call from this number, it’s wise to get in touch with your service provider to verify if they are indeed associated with EE. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ask about your WiFi provider- that was their first question to me! I flat-out told them to jog on and that I’d be speaking to my provider directly to see if this number was legitimate. I've saved the 0800 contact, and I'm now waiting for EE to reach out.
