Some bloke said he was from Sky’s upgrade department. He asked if I was unhappy with Sky and then tried to get me talking to the tech team. Before that, he wanted me to give my mum’s maiden name for security, which seemed dodgy, so I said no. I asked him if he had my account info and how long I’d been with Sky. He guessed 3 years 5 months, which was totally wrong. I told him to have the tech team ring me back, and then he told me to call a different number. So I just ended the call there.

This number called me but I didn’t pick up because I didn’t know who it was. Later, I rang back and straight away, I recognised the woman’s voice from Sky's call centre system. I waited for the full message and then pressed ‘0’ like it said to stop getting marketing messages. I’m a Sky customer, so I’m pretty sure it was actually them. Still, scammers can fake any number, so it’s always wise not to trust caller ID completely.

Someone claimed to be from the Sky Loyalty dept and wanted to check if I was happy with their service. They asked me to confirm who I was, so I asked if they were really from Sky first. They said they could prove it by giving me my account details but honestly, hackers could’ve got that info too. I said so, and then they just said sorry and couldn’t help anymore. SAFE! Got this call and I quickly rang Sky using their official number from the Sky website to verify it. Sky confirmed it was genuine, coming from their Upgrades department. They even knew exactly when they’d called me and said the call was about offering a Sky Cinema upgrade. They never asked for any payment info and had all my Sky account details that a scammer wouldn’t have. Honestly, if someone had that info, they wouldn’t be ringing me at all! So yeah, it’s all above board.

The person said they were calling from Sky and claimed it was just a quick check to see if I was satisfied with my plan and to tell me about some deals and discounts.
