08007832023 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 08007832023 👆 is reported as a BT Openreach number used both for genuine communications like arranging engineer visits, follow-ups, and cable removals, and also exploited for sophisticated scams. While some callers claim to confirm previous requests or appointments with light ID checks, others pose as tech support with urgent broadband issues, asking for personal info or remote access, which raises suspicion. The scams often involve threatening disconnection of broadband, pressure to buy vouchers, or pushing recipients to press phone buttons, usually followed by hang-ups or refusal to provide verifiable contact details. Many warn against calling back or engaging, noting persistent, polite but insistent behaviour from callers, often with strong foreign accents, sometimes targeting vulnerable people. Multiple reports confirm automated scams too, so exercise caution.

Got a call after an Openreach engineer came over, just to make sure the job was done properly and to see if they could help with anything else. Sound enough, nothing dodgy at all!

Had a proper call from Openreach about setting up a visit from their engineer. Genuine and straight to the point.

Just to say, this number really belongs to BT OpenReach. I recently submitted an online form to get my BT cables taken down, and someone called to set up when the engineer would come out. They started the call by checking a few basic details like my name, postcode, and email. Nothing dodgy about it.

Had a proper call from Openreach earlier, they wanted to come and take away some old, unused copper wiring from my place.

So, this number rang me up and it was actually Openreach calling. They were just giving me a follow-up about some repairs they did at my place a bit ago. The person just asked if everything was alright with the work and if they could go ahead and mark the job as finished. Honestly, nothing fishy or weird in their questions at all.

Just got a legit call from Openreach about some repairs I asked for online the day before. They even sent me a couple of emails right away from the real email address, confirming the time and the job details.

Got a call from a guy claiming he was with Openreach. Since I'd just rung them myself, I almost believed him at first. Then he asked for some ID info, but I said no and told him to send me an email to prove he was legit. While he promised to, he wouldn't say why he was calling, which made me really dodgy about the whole thing. He was quite polite and kept pushing, sounded pretty genuine though. Feels like a clever scam to me. What's freaky is how they knew I'd been on the phone with Openreach - makes me wonder if they're tapping my calls. Watch out for this!

Some bloke said he was from BT Openreach tech support working with Virgin Media and all. My broadband's been acting up with EE, so he tried to get me to use Lite Manager and asked for the code. I didn’t give it to him and just hung up straight away. I called EE afterwards, and they said the number wasn’t theirs. Definitely a dodgy call! Nearly got caught but managed to dodge it just in time!

This number rang me and at first it sounded legit since Open Reach have done some repairs at my place lately. But after looking this number up on here, I’m not going to fill out that survey they sent with the link. Feels a bit dodgy. I’ll just get in touch with my internet company to double check instead.

Just a heads up, this number was given to my other half by some bloke claiming to be from Virgin Media about changing my router. Before my partner got involved, I'd already been duped out of a lot of money. He was trying to get me to buy Google Gift Cards, which my partner overheard, then stepped in and took the phone off me. After that, the caller just ended the call.

Some lady called me, claiming she was from B.T. internet. She said if I didn’t answer her questions, my internet would get cut off. She gave me this number: 0800-783-2023. I just ended the call straight away.

A man called me speaking with a very thick Indian accent, claiming loads of people were on our broadband. I told him straight it sounded like a scam, but he wouldn’t listen. When I pressed him for his name, he just went quiet and then cut the call. Proper dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from 0018462416144 claiming to be from BT Openreach, saying my broadband IP was public and others were using it. The person kept rambling about stuff I didn't get and said it'd take about 20 minutes to fix it and make my IP private again. I said no thanks, and when I asked for a callback number, he gave me 08007832023. He also mentioned they'd freeze my broadband and try calling me back in 5 days.

Got a call from a bloke with a really thick Indian accent who told my partner that loads of people were using their BT Sport account, so they had to shut it down along with the broadband in a day or so. When I called them out on it being fishy, they only then offered the phone number. Said something like it’s clearly a scam. That was the end of that.

Got a call like this earlier, sounded dodgy as anything. I'm not a BT customer or anything. Asked the bloke for a number so I could ring back, and he just gave me one then ended the call straight away. Proper fishy if you ask me.

Got a call from someone saying they were from BT tech support. They told me our broadband was getting used by others and they might have to shut it down. They gave me a job reference number for the supposed tech support. The person was really polite and patient, but when I asked if they’d send an email, they couldn’t confirm that at all.

Had a really unpleasant bloke on the phone claiming he was from Openreach, something about 123 Judd Street London, and that my broadband was the reason for the call. Told him straight away to take me off their list and not to bother ringing me anymore. Instead of listening, he just snapped back that he’d be ringing me again soon. Proper rude!

Yesterday I got two calls, one just after 9 in the morning, the other about half past 10. The first caller’s number began with 0800783 something, and the second was slightly different, started with 3908007... Checked it out and it’s from Italy, but really just another dodgy scam call to avoid. Didn’t pick up since I wasn’t home when they rang anyway.

Got a robocall saying my internet would be down for 4 hours, told to press 1 to talk to an engineer or 2 to cancel. Just ignored it and hung up. They rang back about 5 hours later so I put it on answerphone but no one left a message. Now, as I’m typing this, they’re ringing again with no message left yet. Don’t press any buttons, definitely feels like a scam since they never gave a company name.
