Whenever I get calls from unfamiliar numbers, I pick up but stay quiet, just listening in. Most times, like now, they hang up after a few moments of silence. Sometimes it’s one of those robotic messages, and in those cases, I just end the call straight away. Afterwards, I block the number, though I reckon a lot of these calls come from faked numbers anyway. Phone companies really should be doing more to crack down on spoofing and squash this kind of annoying misuse.

Received a call claiming they had between two to three grand to offer for a car accident. When I informed them that I don’t own a vehicle, they tried to convince me they were being genuine. I couldn’t help but laugh, telling him he had quite the sense of humour. His response? Apparently, he was dead serious! I simply replied with a polite farewell. Definitely a scam! Time to block this number!

I received a rather bothersome call recently from someone inquiring about an accident I supposedly had over the past two years. When I pressed him for specifics regarding the date of this alleged incident, he was at a complete loss. I firmly stated that I have never been involved in any accidents whatsoever and asked him to remove me from their contact list. This seemed to aggravate him immensely, as he started to raise his voice, insisting that I ought to pay attention to him. I challenged him to continue, prompting him to spill the details, and to my surprise, he abruptly ended the call instead. I’d advise against picking up if you get similar calls, and it might be wise to block the number altogether.
