Got a phone call earlier from someone offering a 12-month free upgrade to Sky Sports. When I asked if there would be any charges after the year, he admitted there would be. I told him I wasn’t interested, but he kept saying it was free and asked why I wouldn't take it. I explained again that I didn’t want it because it would cost me after the free period and I’m not into sports anyway. Then he just ended the call. It all felt really forceful, and I had a bad feeling it might be a scam. Luckily, they didn’t ask for any personal or bank info.

This really is a legit sky number, you can look it up on sky.com yourself. I signed up for a mobile contract and asked them to call me back, which they did. So if you get a call from them, it’s probably because you shared your number with them before.

This bloke claimed to be from Sky, but he didn’t ask any proper questions and just went straight into trying to sell me a phone. When I told him I was already on contract, he tried switching to tablets, but I wasn’t having any of it. He sounded way too chill for it to be legit, so I quickly ended the call. Not long after, I got a message about a £699 request from my PayPal. Saw the alert but didn’t approve it, reported it straight away. Luckily, no money was actually taken from my bank.

Ive heard of similar stuff before with people pretending to be Vodafone reps but they werent legit. wonder if other mobile firms are also involved, maybe smaller ones harassing folks? how they even got Vodafone customer numbers is a bit of a mystery - i told Vodafone when it happened to me. this call maybe its the same, some company that aint Sky but got hold of Sky’s numbers. we aint even customers so maybe just a random ring.
