I recently discovered that a beloved elderly family member had been duped into purchasing a service plan for a rather ancient washing machine, which, as it turns out, has parts that are long out of circulation. They even swiped their credit card information! I left a voicemail requesting a call back, yet, shockingly, no one bothered to respond. After a second attempt to reach out, I insisted on cancelling the so-called 'plan' since they clearly took advantage of my relative's vulnerability. They assured me that a cheque would be sent as a refund, but predictably, that never materialised. It’s a shame to see a company exploiting the elderly and those who might not be fully aware of their tactics.

My elderly folks got a call asking for £63 supposedly for this year’s warranty extension on their washing machine. Luckily, no one was in at the time, or they might’ve just gone ahead and paid up. These people really know how to sound convincing. I can’t understand how someone can do that kind of job, preying on vulnerable people like it's no big deal. It’s just awful, pure scum.

A company from the UK rang my 91-year-old mum claiming her washing machine warranty was up for renewal. Thing is, she never signed up for any warranty with them in the first place and doesn’t actually need one. They were trying to trick her into paying for something she didn’t want or need. Received a call from some UK service maintenance lot trying to get me to set up a direct debit for appliance insurance. They said they'd send all the info, but never did. I checked online and couldn’t find anything either. In the end, I cancelled the direct debit and called my bank to sort it out.

I received a rather concerning call from a woman named Chloe, who informed me that my washing machine insurance had lapsed. Unfortunately, I didn't have the documents on me to verify her claims, but she appeared quite persuasive, so I went ahead and extended the coverage for another couple of years. She provided me with a number to call and requested that I establish a password. She mentioned her company was called Service U.K. I'm planning to reach out to that number on Monday, but I'm beginning to feel quite anxious that I've been taken for £98. I really must get in touch with my bank right away.

Absolute con artists, I’d say! They go by the name of Uk Service Maintenance Group Ltd, and rang me up with an offer for insurance. However, when I did some digging, it turned out they aren’t even regulated by the FCA, which means they have no legal grounds to be selling insurance in the first place! Really dodgy behaviour, if you ask me.
