I was livid, and my husband was upset with me for questioning the legitimacy of the call. I eventually took control of the conversation and firmly stated that we wouldn’t be sharing any bank details. Then my husband tried to take back the call, at which point I urged him to hang up. Upon checking, it turns out the number is nonexistent! I had to reach out to both the bank and Sky to clear things up. It was all a scam!

I received a call on my mobile from Virgin regarding an upgrade, which I decided to go ahead with. I’ve since had to cancel my bank account due to this incident. It's quite peculiar to receive a call claiming to be Virgin just minutes after having spoken to them legitimately-definitely feels like a scam. I’ve just had a phone call from this number, and it started with someone asking if I was Mrs *****. I replied, “Who’s speaking?” and he said he was from Sky, informing me that my card would be expiring soon and they needed to send a replacement. I wasn’t exactly feeling chipper, so I threw out a cheeky “rubbish!” Since Sky had only been round recently, he ended up hanging up on me. Thankfully, I was able to catch his number because I hadn’t actually hung up on my end (0800 7555 111).

Tried to confirm my address and postcode, but weirdly he read them out to me first. I said there’s no way I’m confirming owt unless he tells me where he got my info. Then he just dropped the call. Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media. They wanted me to give my bank details again to arrange a new, lower direct debit. I said no, and the call ended right there. A couple of minutes later, another bloke called saying he was the manager and needed to verify my bank info because of the data protection rules! Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media, asking me to provide all my bank info again so they could "set up a cheaper direct debit". I said no way and the line went dead. Stay away from these calls! Someone pretending to be Virgin Media tried to trick my dad. These nasty people nearly got him to fall for their scam! Thankfully, he got suspicious straight away, ended the call, then rang Virgin Media directly (he’s a customer) to check if the call was genuine. Virgin Media told him it wasn’t their number and they hadn’t called. I worry about folks who might believe this rubbish and get caught out. Don’t pick up if you see this number! My dad’s already reported it to both the police and Action Fraud.
