Saw a text in my genuine Santander message inbox about some credit card request! Bit suspicious so I rang Santander themselves. Turns out, no such application was made and they told me they usually only alert you through email if there's an issue. So defo a scam message.

Got a letter that looked like it came from Santander, saying they tried to refund me £10 to a card I shut down ages ago. They included a form asking for my present bank details (which aren't with Santander) plus my signature to send back in a freepost envelope. Got this dodgy message saying there was a loan application in my name and to ring if I didn’t apply. Like with most of these rubbish scams I decided to give them a buzz, had a laugh, fed them a load of nonsense details, then I just blocked the number afterwards :)

If your bank gets in touch out of the blue, always ring them back using the number on the back of your card - but only once you’re sure the line’s clear. Banks often use loads of different numbers to reach customers, and scammers have been known to copy these numbers to trick people. The person who answers your call might not be able to tell if the number you called from is real, but they’ll confirm if the bank has actually tried to contact you. Keep in mind, even if the call was a rip-off, that doesn't mean the number itself is fake, so don’t be too quick to block it.

I got an email from Santander saying someone had tried to get a credit card using my name. I rang them straight away and managed to stop the application, reporting it as fraud. Then, the next day I received a text saying the card was approved and to call 08007313313 if I hadn’t done it. I called Santander again, and they told me that number wasn’t theirs. Don’t fall for this scam, they’re just after your banking info and might try to redirect the card somewhere else. Stay vigilant out there.

I got a text from this number and it turned out to be a scam. I noticed on my bank statement that a credit card application had been made in my name, but I never did it. I rang my bank straight away and they stopped the application from going through. Then the very next day, I received a message claiming to be from Santander saying my credit card was being processed and if it wasn’t me, I should ring the number they gave. I checked with my bank and they told me the text wasn’t from them at all, it was a scam. Apparently, Santander wouldn’t ever send texts with a phone number for you to call; they send letters by post instead. So, watch out for this number and always keep an eye on your bank activity!
