Got a text saying my state pension would be stopped unless I gave my National Insurance number to 0800 731 0469, even though I’m already getting the pension. Seemed a bit fishy to me.

Got a call from someone pretending to be from the state pension department. The person on the other end had an accent I couldn’t place and was asking for a member of staff who actually works at a related company - fortunately I know who they meant. They didn't explain what the call was about aside from mentioning the state pension. Just hung up and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from 0800 7310469 and it looked like it was from the DWP, even had their letterhead and everything. But if you weren’t expecting to hear from them, be careful because it could be a scammer faking their number. Best thing to do is hang up and ring the DWP yourself if you have to deal with them. Don’t risk giving out personal info!

I attempted to call this number, hoping to explore more options, but instead was led to a line discussing HMRC alternatives. Strangely, a warning appeared claiming it’s a scam number. I returned to the official government site and encountered a different platform that offered a way to update my personal information online. The initial site merely advised me to ring that 0800 number, which seems a bit suspect, if I'm honest.

I got a letter from the Department of Works and Pensions with these numbers (0800 731 0469 and 0800 731 0464) on it. I phoned because I had a question, and the person I spoke to seemed to know my details already. They didn’t ask me for any personal info, but I did give my NI number since it was on the letter too. From what I can tell, the number seems legit unless there’s some massive inside scam going on at the DWP, which could be a worry given folks working remotely nowadays.

0800 731 0469 - I've seen this number listed by Paul Lewis in the Saga mag as the official contact for the gov department sorting out pension underpayments affecting about 237,000 folks, mostly women who were married or had lost their partners, because their pensions were miscalculated when their spouse either hit pension age or passed away. I can't imagine this being a scam, can it?

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from the DWP, speaking with an Irish accent, asking me to verify my address, which I did. She told me to call 08007310469 to confirm everything immediately. It felt off somehow. Why on earth would the DWP ring me like that? I refused to call back, so she said they’d send a form through the post for me to complete and sign. Sure enough, about a week later, a form arrived. Straight in the bin it went. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM!!!

Got a letter with this number a week after I got a dodgy call. They asked for my NI number and my signature to 'verify' my address. When I looked closely at the letter, there were a bunch of mistakes which I’m not going to get into. Tried ringing the number back but it wouldn’t pick up properly, which seemed odd. They’re definitely faking numbers that look like proper DWP contacts. It’s obvious this is a major scam with fake letters and phone lines.

08007310469 is quite strange. I’ve been dealing with the Dept of Work and Pensions recently, but only about getting a letter fixed - they sent me the wrong one. So, while they do have my phone number, there’s no real reason for them to ring me up; the letter is what matters. The call came on a Saturday when I wasn’t home. No voicemail or message left. My phone just shows “Withheld Number,” but also displayed 08007310469 at the same time. Honestly, this seems a bit dodgy to me?

I asked for a contact number to call them back and they gave me 0800 731 0469, with the caller named as Dawn Taylor. Both this number and 0800 731 7898 seem to be linked to the Department of Work and Pensions. I saw both listed on their official site. The 0800 731 0469 comes up when you’re waiting on the line and have a slightly different enquiry from mine, which was about adding more info to my last State Pension Claim. I’ve marked these numbers as neutral for now because they did ask for my bank details. That always makes me uneasy when it’s over the phone, but luckily there was a postal option and no push to give my info there, so I chose to send it by post instead.

Got a call from dwp pensions service about a query. It seems they spotted an error on a form they were reviewing. At first, voicemail left an alternative contact (0345 6060265) quite early in the morning, but when I rang, they said the number had changed to 08007310469. Definitely a proper pension service line, so no cause for concern.
