4 yearsI got a call from these scammers while trying to update my maps too. The error displayed was code g0790e, but when I checked online, it took me to a fake Tomtom site. They said a tech support guy would contact me, and he did, guiding me through steps that looked like he was controlling my PC to fix the issue (could've just been a pre-recorded video). He claimed that bad drivers had damaged my map and I needed to purchase a new one. It didn’t sound right, so I hung up. Later on, I downloaded the update straight from Tomtom myself, so it was definitely a scam.TomTom6 yearsI received a call purporting to be from Garmin regarding an update for my sat nav. The moment I detected an Indian accent on the other end, coupled with a request to access a different website, I instinctively realised it was a scam. Without a second thought, I hung up the phone right away.Garmin6 yearsBeware of this particular number; it appears to be associated with a scam that involves the Garmin platform. Interestingly, it seems they also inadvertently used a landline, which further suggests their lack of professionalism. The number in question is 01213185681, and when answered, you’re met by an Asian gentleman who attempted to gain access to my computer. Steer clear!Garmin6 yearsI found this number after searching online for TomTom updates. A “level 7 tech” guy told me my computer was infected, which was why I couldn’t get the map updates. He then remotely accessed my PC to “fix” stuff, but I soon realised this wasn’t from TomTom at all when they started pushing for a big payment, like hundreds of pounds, to sort things out. Would definitely stay clear of this one.TomTom7 yearsI got caught out when trying to update my TomTom. These scammers kept saying my laptop needed a new firewall and wanted £100 for a one-year plan, or up to £500 for lifetime help. They kept claiming they worked for TomTom. The number’s linked to a site called satnavnavigationmart or something like that. I’m baffled how they managed to interfere with a TomTom update. I was on the phone with them for nearly 40 minutes before I finally hung up. Complete waste of time!TomTom7 yearsI received a call from this number while I thought I was getting assistance with updating my Garmin GPS watch. Currently, my computer is with a technician who’s investigating the issue.7 yearsBeware of this dubious Tom Tom number-it’s likely a scam!Tom Tom7 yearsI think that number is legit, they told me to update my Garmin through it.7 yearsThis number for TomTom looks like a potential scam!TomTom7 yearsyeah, total scam and i nearly got caught out by it as well. they said my firewall was stopping the maps from downloading and asked if they could control my cursor to switch it off for a bit. i only got wary when they wanted me to either turn it off myself or give them access to my computer. its crazy that this con is still popping up on the web. on the bright side, my kid found it hilarious and reckoned the website looked proper dodgy, like something from the 90s with bad resolution everywhere.7 yearsI searched for the Garmin update centre on google and called the number [###]. They said my Garmin satnav had issues when I was trying to update it. They somehow got control of my pc and started showing loads of fake errors. Then they wanted me to pay £189 for a "microsoft tech" to fix the problems and throw in a 3 year anti-virus subscription. I said no thanks and ended the call. This is definitely a scam, so watch out!GoogleGarminMicrosoft7 yearsSo this number popped up on To Tom services and, daft me, I gave them access to my computer. Total scam, don’t make the same mistake I did. They said they'd ring me back but haven't yet. Fingers crossed they do though.Tom7 yearsi got a call from this number claiming my computer didnt have any firewall protection which is rubbish coz i got one installed. they told me the driver was hacked and tried to get me to pay £179.99 to sort it out. then they said my garmin sat nav was faulty and asked for £79 to fix it too. my sat nav is fine so watch out, looks like a scam to me.Garmin7 yearsI received this number from someone claiming they could assist me with my TomTom updates. Initially, I thought it was all above board until they requested I log into my email. Is there a chance that they could now gain access to my computer? They were even remotely controlling my screen.7 yearsSo my folks got roped in after seeing a pop-up on the TomTom website, which made them ring a number. The person on the other end told them to let them access their computer through an app. Then they went on about paying £100 just to register the device. No doubt about it, they were scammers!TomTom7 yearsI tried calling what I believed was Garmin support on 08006891713, and they asked me to download Go Assist. Once they got into my computer remotely, they said there was an issue with my iMac. They even asked how old my computer was, which struck me as a bit strange. In the end, I cancelled everything because it seemed like a scam.Garmin7 yearsI received a call from someone claiming to be from TomTom, saying they were assisting with setting up my device. Honestly, I'm not too convinced; it gives off a rather dodgy vibe. Let’s hope I’m mistaken and it’s all legit!TomTom7 yearsI once had issues with my TomTom sat nav and found a number linked to it. When I rang up, the bloke on the other end had a European accent and asked if he could remotely access my PC to check the problem. Feeling a bit wary about letting him in, I told him I wasn’t comfortable with that and didn’t want him to connect. Right after that, he just hung up on me. Seemed a bit dodgy if you ask me.8 yearsGot a call from a bloke who gave his name as Jonathan Revees, said he was calling from Exeter. I clicked on a help popup that showed up on the TomTom site and at first I trusted it, but then the Indian accent didn't quite match the story he was giving. He got access to my PC, removed some malware or whatever, then I turned off and restarted the computer. Seems fine now, but I’ve had to update all my passwords just in case. I’ve sent a detailed complaint to TomTom and they said they’ll look into it.Jonathan ReveesReevesExeterTomTom8 yearsI got a call from a number that showed up on what I assumed was a TomTom support page. The person on the other end asked stuff that made it seem like there was something wrong with my PC and said he could sort it out. Felt like he was gonna try and get me to pay for it.TomTomSubmit Your Own Report (0800 689 1713)
