Didn't know this number so just ignored the call. This isn't Yorkshire Bank or Clydesdale voicemail. I got in touch with Yorkshire Bank VM through an online chat and asked why they'd rung me from 0800 678 3477. The chat agent said there’s no record of them calling me and that number isn’t familiar to them. They recommended blocking it, which I’ve now done.

Got a call on my cellphone on 4/7/2022, with a voicemail telling me to call the local branch of Yorkshire/Virgin Bank. Chatted to someone there and everything was fine. I received a call on 09/03/22 at 14:23 from the number 0800 678 3477. The caller claimed to be from Virgin Money, my bank. Initially, they said the purpose of the call was to ensure that my contact information was accurate. However, it quickly took a turn when they started asking personal questions. They inquired about my occupation, how I receive payment (weekly or monthly), my date of birth, whether my account is being used for business purposes, and even my mother's maiden name. This was quite alarming, as banks explicitly state that they would never ask for such sensitive information over the phone. Consequently, I ended the call promptly, suspecting it to be a scam.

I got a legit call from Virgin Money, which actually uses the same call centre as Clydesdale Bank. These banks, along with Yorkshire Bank, are all part of the same group now. But just because the number shows up as one of these banks doesn’t mean it truly is. Scammers sometimes fake caller ID to make it look like they’re ringing from these places.
