This number keeps ringing me non stop. Every time I let the answering machine pick up, the call just drops. Really annoying and feels like some dodgy scam attempt. I've gone ahead and blocked it now.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be with Nationwide, had a really polished way of talking. He said he needed to recalibrate my card reader or something like that. Pretty quickly caught on that it was a con though, but I’ll give it to him, he was convincing as hell!

Had a pretty tricky phone call earlier, they sounded so legit like they were from some Financial Services team handling a claim. Tried to get me to check out an official website too. They already knew my name, where I live and my DOB somehow, which was quite worrying. Didn’t give them any bank info though. Blocked the number straight away. Big thanks for this site being around, I’m 80 and really grateful for having somewhere to check these things!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Santander, said my credit card had been used miles away. They asked a load of convincing questions and I nearly gave them access to my bank account. Luckily, I hung up and rang my bank straight away, who then cancelled my cards. Meanwhile, the scammer tried ringing me back about four times.

I got a text from +447922 464112 saying there was some dodgy payment on my account. I tapped on the [N] link in the message, and right away, a call came through from 0800 678 1100. When I asked them for a reference number about my “case,” they told me it was FCA45678. That’s when I knew it was a scam, so I just hung up straight away.

Dont pick up if this number rings, some bloke claiming to be from Monzo FCSC called me saying there was an attempt to hack my account. He said to keep it safe I had to transfer £200 via REMITLY for some kind of "financial insurance" thing. He kept grilling me for loads of info too. Good job I was suspicious and didnt fall for it. Just stay alert and always check with your bank first.

SCAM ALERT! Got a call from this number claiming to be from my bank's fraud department. The bloke had a London accent and sounded proper dodgy. When I asked if it was real, he told me to look up the number on the bank's website but then started threatening me that if I hung up, I wouldn't be able to get my money back if anything was stolen. Total nonsense! Avoid at all costs.

Got a call from a guy claiming to be from my bank's fraud team. As soon as he mentioned that, I ended the call immediately. If your bank contacts you, always call them back using the number on the back of your card. He kept phoning me again and again, sometimes using the FSCS 0800 number, other times the caller ID was blocked.

Got a call today from this number, someone claiming to be from my bank's fraud team. They told me there was a suspicious IKEA transaction and asked me to call a different number to verify. The story sounded pretty legit. They had my full details like my name and address and were polite, speaking very clear English. They even provided a case reference number! Luckily, I didn’t share any info, but watch out because they were trying to get me to move money from my savings into my current account. Proper clever scam, be careful with these lot.

Got a call from a number I didn't recognise. When I asked who it was, they told me to look up Santander fcs 0800 number on google. Found the number they mentioned and they said they'd ring me back from that 0800 number - and sure enough, they did. I hung up quickly, but just a heads up to be careful with these calls.

Has anyone reported to FSCS that their number is being used by scammers? Seems like people are getting tricked by calls coming from their official line! Has anyone gotten in touch with FSCS after being scammed to let them know their number was compromised?

BEWARE, SCAM WARNING: AVOID GIVING ANY INFORMATION TO THIS NUMBER. I received a call that falsely claimed to be from American Express. The caller, who identified himself as Sam Dunk, claimed he was reaching out about a supposed fraudulent transaction and that someone pretending to be me had called just half an hour prior. When I expressed hesitation about sharing any details, he urged me to check his identity by searching for "FSCS AMEX 0800" and his name on LinkedIn. He persistently inquired about the banks I used, and when I hesitated, he became aggressive, insisting that I'd already confirmed his legitimacy. I told him I would return the call, but he insisted he would ring me again. I swiftly contacted American Express using the number on the back of my card, and they confirmed it was indeed a vishing attempt. Stay vigilant!

They were super slick, took their time slowly messing with our bank stuff without us realising. We ended up sharing details we really shouldn't have. It wasn’t just one person either, they kept switching callers, pretending to put us through to other ‘teams’ where they mentioned tiny amounts being taken out of our accounts. It was obvious they knew exactly what they were doing because everything was being controlled by them. Then came the worst part... you probably guessed it... almost all our savings gone. We’re pensioners, so this was literally everything we had.

Total scam, folks! They already know bits about you, then call claiming sums have been taken from your accounts. Their story? They want to merge or shut an account to keep your cash safe. But what they really want is your passwords and bank info. Plus, they even ask for the codes linked to your iPad. Don’t fall for it, it’s all dodgy!

Had a similar experience where I got texts that looked like they were from my bank. For a moment, I thought it was genuine but something just seemed off, so I ignored it. The person kept trying to ring me back, but I didn’t pick up. Later, I phoned my bank to let them know what was going on.

Got a call from someone claiming they were looking into suspicious activity on my account. Then I got a message that looked like it was from my bank, with a code and some personal info. The caller asked me to open my banking app and if they should block it, plus any other bank accounts I had. The call dropped, so I hung on a bit to check the line was clear, then rang up my bank directly. They told me straight away it was a scam.

Got a message with a code, seemed like it was from my bank, then got a call right after. The person sounded all caring but then asked me to log into my online banking. I told them no and that I’d ring the bank directly. Then they just hung up. When I spoke to the bank, they said they never do calls or texts like that.

So I first got a text from what looked like HSBC, same number they’ve used before, so I trusted it. Shortly after, I got a call saying there was suspicious activity on my account and they asked if I wanted to block the transaction. Then, it got strange when they started asking about my other bank accounts and how much money I had in them. The call ended suddenly, so I rang HSBC directly, and turns out it was a total scam.

Got a call from someone saying they were from my bank, asking for a code that I actually had just received from them. I didn’t give it out and ended the call. Then I rang my bank to check and they told me it was a scam, and that the code was meant to let the scammers buy stuff using my account. Proper dodgy!

Somebody rang pretending to be from my bank about a missed Lloyds gym payment. They sent a dodgy 'verification code' which I knew wasn't something my bank does. When I called them out, the guy got aggressive and said exactly, "Bend you over and stick it in." I wasn't having any of this nonsense. After that awful comment, I handed the phone to my partner, who played along a bit and then called the caller a rubbish scammer, which made the bloke swear and then hang up right away.

Got a call from FSCS # saying they were from my bank. They rang me twice on that number but never left a voicemail. They also rang my mobile (07425969431) three times, again no messages. When I did answer, the bloke introduced himself as Dan Hinton and said a delivery company called Evri was trying to scam me. He then called me back on an 0800 number to keep talking. At that point, I got really suspicious and ended the call straight away.
