08005875252 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 08005875252 👆 is reported as a number linked to an official BT text-to-voice service used primarily for managing and curbing SMS to landline message deliveries, allowing users to set curfew times or opt out entirely. However, many have mistaken its persistent and often untimely calls - frequently at night - as nuisance or scam attempts, causing distress especially among elderly recipients. Genuine calls tend to relate to SMS message delivery from BT services, but unsolicited repeated calls and silent ringing have raised suspicions. Users seeking to prevent these calls can do so by contacting the BT opt-out number from the affected landline. Vigilance is advised as scammers sometimes mimic similar numbers, so confirmation with BT is recommended before responding.

Got a call from some Solar Panel place at first, but the audio was so rubbish it was hard to make out. If you pick up they end up putting you through to proper scammers trying to grab your info. Best just block the number straight away.

They rang us two times on Sunday and then twice again early this morning (Monday), first one was as early as 4am. We never picked up any of the calls. Since we have caller ID, we just check the number and don’t answer if it’s not familiar.

I've blocked this number after it kept ringing me nonstop, whether it was day or night. Seems like some sort of bank scam, so watch out.

Kept ringing my 93 year old mum, obviously a bank scam. After a while i just blocked the number coz they wouldnt stop. Even then they kept on calling non stop before I finally cut them off.

Been getting calls non-stop from this number since early morning, figured it was some kind of scam so I just ignored it. Appreciate the heads up though. I reckon older folks with landlines get picked on a lot more with these calls. It's really rubbish how these scams keep increasing lately.

This number just keeps ringing non stop, really annoying! They never seem to stop bothering me.

The family barely got any rest last night as this number kept ringing every hour throughout the night. I’ll need to figure out a way to block it somehow.

Got a text that was supposed to be from Lloyds but it just didn't seem right at all, and the number it came from definitely isn’t the one BT usually uses for their text alerts. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

Two calls came through, one late at night around 10pm and another super early at 4 in the morning, but I just ignored both. Pretty clear it was a scam trying to get me to pick up.

I should be on a night curfew for BT texts, but I actually got four messages from them between 4 and 7 in the morning last night. Pretty sure that's not what curfew means!

This number has been ringing us loads, both during the day and even in the dead of night. Just last night, they called again at about 4 in the morning. We’re thinking of getting in touch with BT to see if they can block it for us.

Got a call just after midnight, which is really not on. Luckily, my home phone was on mute through the night, so it didn’t wake me up.

Just got a call past midnight from this number again, and it's definitely not one we know or have saved. Feels like some kind of scam to me. Honestly, these sorts of calls need to be banned by the authorities - it's really not on.

Got calls saying it's from parcel delivery but they never gave any info. Just kept ringing and going silent every time. Definitely seems like a scam.

This number rang me again just after midnight, and as it’s not on any list I know, it’s got to be some kind of scam. Getting calls like this at such a silly hour is really annoying and honestly, they should be banned by the authorities.

Don’t expect this number to ring you. It’s actually shown on BT’s Text Help site as the one you need to ring from your landline if you want to change the curfew time for the BT text-to-speech relay service (08456021111), which lets texts be read out on your house phone. You can also use it to stop that number from calling you. All the negative reviews on here come from just one person who seems to have some mental health issues, and their false scam claims about this audio text service have caused plenty of folks to miss important messages.

Someone pretending to be from BT left a message on the feed for 0456021111 telling people to ring this number if they want to block all those annoying robocalls. What a massive con!

I've had loads of calls on my landline from 0800587252, all saying something about a delivery. They kept ringing back multiple times to "confirm" it or whatever. Honestly, it feels like a massive scam. I’m with Kingston Communications in Hull and they say they can't block the number, which is just rubbish. Trying to get to the bottom of it is a nightmare - impossible really. Watch out, it's suspicious!

I've had calls from 08005875252 loads of times, both day and night. They keep telling me I've got text messages, but there’s never any real texts when I check. It’s definitely a scam. They claim to be BT SMS messages, but I just ignored them and deleted anything doubtful. Watch out, it’s suspicious stuff.

Got a call from 10 587 5252 at half past midnight. The whole flat was knocked out and this blasted call woke us all up. We’re both retired and have no family who’d ever phone us at such an hour. Usually, nuisance calls are just annoying, but getting one in the middle of the night? That’s just not on.

Got a call from BT's SMS answering service about changing curfew times, but when I tried using this number, it wouldn't let me set it up through my phone. Pressing 1 didn’t work and I couldn’t cancel either, so I’m left with these annoying msgs from 1g. It just keeps cycling through the same message over and over.

For a couple of days, my landline kept buzzing every now and then until I finally picked up. Turned out it was some unknown number trying to send me a SMS. But I just deleted it straight away. Such a nuisance!

I receive incessant calls that tend to kick off around 8:30 every morning. Curiously, not a single one of them leaves a message on my voicemail. As someone who is ex-directory, I find this particularly frustrating. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can put an end to these bothersome interruptions?

I received a voicemail from the number listed above, but I didn't bother returning the call as it came from an unknown source. I tend to avoid answering calls from such numbers, especially with the incessant ringing I get both during the day and late at night. This particular call occurred around 21:45 on the 15th of November, 2017. Seriously, what sort of company would be reaching out at that time of night?

I received a message from the BT SMS service to say that someone has attempted to contact me on my mobile or perhaps even a text-enabled landline. If I ring 0800 587 5252, I can choose to opt out of these SMS notifications. After that, I’ll have the opportunity to adjust the curfew settings, and if I fancy, I can ultimately decide to cancel the entire service altogether. The caller was indeed the BT text service. Call type: text message.

I've noticed that a number has persistently been ringing a friend of mine who lives nearby. She, understandably, chooses not to pick up the phone. Is there any way to put an end to these calls? This dear lady is in her 80s, and the calls mostly seem to come in during the evening hours. Does anyone have any information on who might be behind this? Thanks in advance!
