I had a call from someone named Stephen claiming to be with British Gas, asking for the accounts team. As soon as I began to question him, he just ended the call. Pretty sure it was a scam.

I got a call from some bloke named Stephen claiming he was with British Gas Lite. He mentioned quite a few things about our contracts and meters, but then started asking for more info. I told him I’d ring back since it felt a bit fishy. He gave me the number 08005253000 to call, but after I looked it up with our energy broker, turns out the guy was a total scammer.

Got a call from someone named Stephen claiming to be from “Opas Energy” about an issue with my meter. I told him I didn’t have the details right then and that I’d call back. When I asked for his number he gave me 08005253000. Then I asked where he was based and he said “London.” I tried to get his address but he just hung up. Definitely felt like a scam.

Got a call from a guy claiming he was from Eon, said there was an issue with their database and asked for my meter supply number and a reading. The bloke, with an Indian accent, called himself ‘Stephen’ and mentioned he was working remotely, though I could clearly hear a call centre buzzing in the background. I refused to give any info and told him someone would ring back with the details. Last I heard, he’s still waiting for that call - obvious scam to me.

Got a call from some bloke with a foreign accent claiming to be from "ssc meter registrations" or summat, said there was an issue with my electric meter's registration and wanted the meter number. When I asked where he was calling from, he said London. Asked for his name next and he gave “Steve Smith", yeah, sure. I just told him to jog on and ended the call.
