Claimed it was BT, but I’m pretty sure that’s not right.

Greetings everyone, I’m chiming in on behalf of BT to clarify matters regarding our recent communications. If you’ve received a text concerning termination fees, it’s because we’ve been informed of your intention to transition away from BT to another provider. This isn’t a ruse, so it’s important not to disregard it. The notification is dispatched to your home line as well as the mobile number you’ve registered with us. Additionally, a letter labelled 'Advice of transfer’ will be sent your way. For those who aren’t customers of BT receiving this message accidentally, we apologise. Such occurrences can arise if someone, perhaps a family member or a friend, has entered your mobile number mistakenly as an alternative contact. There's no need for you to take any action. You can verify the authenticity of these messages by visiting this page on our website: www.bt.com/leavingbt Cheers, Nigel - BTCare Team

Be wary, as it seems these folks are now targeting businesses too, claiming you're switching over from BT to a different service provider. Just brush it off!

I found myself simply hanging up without dropping a message.

I recently had my email account compromised, and I received a rather dubious call. The caller tried to con me into thinking that my BT landline was about to be cut off. They insisted that I needed to ring them back and pay a fee to avoid this disconnection. Quite the audacious scam, if you ask me!

We received a voicemail saying our account was set to be cut off and instructed us to call this number to cancel. Seems like a complete scam! Cheers to this website for putting our minds at ease!
